Question What 3 words does your wife insist on mispronouncing ?

I would be interested to know which 3 words does your wife mispronounce the most frequent ?

This is NOT a piss take on Thais , because lets be fair if it were not for the fact most of our missus's could not speak English in some form we would have a big problem , no I admire them for the effort they have made .

Now for my part we don't have any words in the English language such as beginning in the GH sound as in Ghai and I would imagine we can all be understood when we want a bit of the old Ghai yang ,, I can just about get away with the Bpai and Bpen words ,, however hands up when it comes to the Gnai Ghor / Knor sounds , that just sounds like me snoring .

Now despite living in the UK for over 8 years now and much help and encouragement from me the 3 most common words my missus fails on and insists on bloody saying

    1. Bottuumn you know it > Bottle

    2. Shuuursh " " " > Church

    3. Orinn " " " > Orange

Just as an aside bless her , as we walked into out local town she pointed out the hairdresser to me where she went to have her hair cut last week

" There it is over there , Uni Q " is how she said it ,, gave me a larf bless her little heart ,, try Unique babe
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs

The verb to be is always missing. Just today, she pointed at me and said "You", excellent stress and matching point, "fuking fat ugly bastard", all pronounced well, but that was the end of the sentence - she had no verb; nonetheless, she communicated her point very clearly...

Substitutes a "d" for some words starting with "th". Over dere, what's dat, etc.

I have started pulling her on her lazy pronunciation recently, as our young son was starting to copy her. He has now started to correct her also.

Mine uses the word 'torrible' occasionally, I don't know if it means more horrible than terrible.

    Harry coke not cola.Priceless.

Mine said today" Im going to take a bath for the dog" Has said it that way before and I simply correct her by stating that your giving the dog a bath.

While entering the expressway many years ago I used the buss/multiple occupant lane. The gf said I should not use it to wich I replied dont worry it's ok. No explanation given.

A month later she came home with a ticket. She used the multiple occupant lane.

She told me that when the cop asked why she replied my husband said it was ok.

Can only imagine the look on the coppers face, "your husband said it was ok?"

Once at McDonalds she said she wanted a big mack and a milk. Not happy as she really wanted a big mack meal. She said you know I dont drink mill.

Haven't found a Thai yet than can pronounce 'squirrel'

But then, haven't heard a Farang yet who can properly pronounce 'snow' correctly in passa Thai.

    Huh?

Squirrel in Thai is 'Garock' or 'Katick' which is really a smaller version of the same species.

Was referring previously to the word in Thai for 'snow' and curious as to how many Farang can pronounce that correctly w/out Thai's in listening range bursting out in laughter.

It's not the pronunciation so much as (similar to Betty's wife) omitting the verb from sentences. This leaves my mind in limbo. The other day I almost fell to the floor of the supermarket clutching my brain.

Then forgetting the "s" on the end of plural nouns. Then saying "I am like that" rather than "I like that".

She was a high-school science teacher, and unfortunately language is not her strong point.....which is unfortunate as I do love a well-turned phrase or two.

Oh well....she more than makes up for her deficiencies by being so well-balanced emotionally, a lovely person, and overall a delight to be with.

I'm often asked to buy some pomatoes and can never remember if she means tomatoes or potatoes so it's my fault. I also get an 'uh' when I ask a question, so
    'would you like a drink?'
    'uh'

I believe most here should be checking themselves first as to how many Thai terms that they might mispronounce - that's if they understand [their usual nominal] Thai at all....
