Yes, there is that, and also for nice picture reports and well written, informed comments which ring true - the last one happens more often than one might think.
I don't green, but I give reds for OP's that are no more than a line long.
Broke out in a sweat a few times but still never redded...greens for a chuckle, profundity, or if the poster has read my thoughts.
Some posts just really hit the spot, doesn't matter if they're serious or funny, they'll get a green, unless "you have to spread some reputation etc..".
