The issue wasn't about having gay sex in public, Nige, It was about sexual discrimination.

... a judge in Belfast high court on Tuesday ruled that the family-owned firm was guilty of discriminating against Gareth Lee on the grounds of sexual orientation.

Outlining her reasons why this was a case of discrimination, Brownlie said: “The defendants are not a religious organisation. They conduct a business for profit. As much as I acknowledge their religious beliefs, this is a business to provide service to all. The law says they must do that.”
However, I do sympathise with the shop owners position on the writing ...

“We’ve said from the start that our issue was with the message on the cake, not the customer and we didn’t know what the sexual orientation of Mr Lee was, and it wasn’t relevant either. We’ve always been happy to serve any customers that come into our shops.

“The ruling suggests that all business owners will have to be willing to promote any cause or campaign no matter how much they disagree with it.

How come the homosexual provocateurs, didn't and don't target Muslim bakeries ?

Instead pick on a Christian bakery, probably run by a lovely old couple.

^Nearest Muslim bakery to Northern Ireland is in Morocco. They weren't a lovely old couple, looked like they were in their mid 30s and smartly dressed. Neither you nor nige should get overexcited about this. Those people are Free Presbyterians, they hate your type ( race-mixers and fornicators) as much as they hate Gays.

What was the writing to say? I just read it, "Support Gay Marriage"; that's all. Their political beliefs shouldn't come into it, it's not their call. Fuck em, I hope they are found guilty of discrimination.

The owners of the bakery or the B+B or wherever or whatever should have the right to refuse anyone , its just the fact the poofs have been allowed to create this tail wagging the dog situation .

Yeah, and you have nothing against Jews and Blacks either, as long as they don't sit next to you on a public bus.

It's got nothing to do with the EU, it's got everything to do with people being treated equally. It's nothing to do with being gay, it's everything to do with knowing how minorities are treated when not protected by the law. What's your problem with queers anyway? Some Freudian issue? Have you any idea how much of a minority your views put you in?. Hardly anybody gives a toss abot anybodys sexuality these days. How would you feel if you got refused service everywhere you went just because your views on sexuality are repulsive to most people in the UK?

Same to me paedophiles and cannibals - they are ill.
I don't like how they create new diseases like aids; they probably created every STD in history.
I don't like how they hang around men's public toilets.
    Pollute parks with their dogging.
Whilst only being 2% of the population commit a majority of the child abuse .

it's not pop idol where fools vote- it only takes one great scientist who's right to dismantle a popular idea.

That was monkeys. I have no idea if they were queer monkeys. I'm all for banning monkeys, nasty unicycle-riding banana-stealing bastards (I may be thinking of the French here, I'm not entirely sure but my point is still valid).

Public toilets? In Camerons Britain? The last public toilet I saw was on display in the V&A. The rest of them have been converted into yuppie and hipster bars.

Yes, doggings shittings everywheres, I don't like doggings either, they should be kept on leads. I assume you mean cottaging, as in public bogs above, dogging is almost exclusively an activity of white van man and Bitter drinkers.

Politicians make up far less than 2% of the population, are you also including senior civil servants and members of the clergy and intelligence services in your estimate?

If request was to produce a message publicly celebrating homosexuality, which is an abnormal expression of sexual desire, then it should be illegal for the shop-owners to fulfill the request and they should be taken to court if they accept the job on grounds of public indecency. Such cakes should be baked and eaten discreetly in the privacy of the homes of legally protected homosexual couples.

Wot he said! The customer would think the bakers were gay and move on to a different bakery.

Would a Jewish baker then be forced under the law to decorate a cake with nazi symbolism, or a Muslim baker a cake with a picture of Mohammed or Pippa the Pig, or how about the gay owner of a t-shirt printing shop being asked to print a shirt denouncing gay marriage.

This is not about persecution of gays, it is about freedom of conscious, this cake shop serves gay customers all the time, that has never been the problem.

Neither is this a triumph for equality, far from it, it is a curtailment of freedom of expression, this couple were asked to promote gay marriage and they did not wish to do so as it is against their Christian beliefs and they are perfectly within their rights not to promote gay marriage, just as Muslims bakers should not be asked to say, put representations of Pigs on cakes for a Christians childs birthday.

This ridiculous ruling harks back to Thomas Mores refusal to recognise Henry VIII as supreme head of the Church in England back in the sixteenth century, and that is where we are heading when the courts say we cannot express our negative opinions or live by our beliefs.

Yes & we all know what happened to Thomas Becket when Henry 2nd simply asked: "Won't someone rid me of this troublesome Priest" who questioned his authority.
