I hope not to get flammed for initiating this thread. It'd be nice if we, members, who come from different corners of the world with diverse clutural background, post some pics of our birth-place if possible and write down a few lines about it.
To keep the ball rolling I start with my birth-place. The place I come from is called 'Quetta' located in the south-west of Pakistan and it lies 1,680 meters above sea level. Quetta is a small city surrounded by hills on all four sides with all four season. The population of my city is well below 1 million with an area of about 2,500 sq. km.
Quetta is a triable area where Persians, who later mixed with Mangkols, Pushtuns and Balochs live in peace and harmony. Quetta tribesmen are strong and silent in their bearing. They're known for their friendliness and hospitality.
Quetta is also a major domestic tourism spot. It envisages all colour of thrill and adventure. A wide variety of mammals like wild sheep, leopards, wolves, hyena, hares, wild cats and porcupines can be found in the mountains of Quetta. While birds may contain species of partridge, warblers, blue rock pigeon, golden eagle, sparrows, hawks and falcons etc.
The temperature goes up to 37C in summer and it can drop 15 below zero in winter. Normally the snow fall starts around Christmas and it ends somewhere in March.
