If it was one of these pricks in Bangkok with the boards that rabble on about missing 500 baht for the flight home i would take out my cock and urinate on them.
If it were a genuine case that could be verified then i would help in any way possible, be it monetary or whatever.

I cant vote their is always a degree of variable, such as his appearance or the smell of alcohol on his breath. I saw one guy about 3 times in the period of two years around sukhumvit that said he needed taxi money and had no shoes but looked like had had no sleep and been drinking for weeks on end.

Basically it depends on the state of someone doesnt it?

Either way, would I try to help????
    Probably not

does it make a difference if he is a thai or an expat anyway?

is there no equality among beggars?

Am I meant to feel some kind of kinship with him because he's a farang? Screw that, if he was in trouble he could go to his embassy. My sympathies are with the poor and the homeless that don't have anything to fall back on.

Don't think the expat beggars are part of the local Beggars Guild (Mafia). Not 100% sure on that though.

I've seen some genuine cases in Patts.
They seem to get the most help from the people you'd least expect, hardened barflies and hard up expats (at least, they claim they're hard up) - not the respectable farang residents.

I used to live near the Emporium and there was a long term semi homeless farang guy that used to hang around and sleep in the park. The police and local tesakit never bothered him...

+I gave that Eurotrash (yellow sign short of money for flight 100 baht , 500 baht, 1000 baht) beggar in Bangkok 100 baht once... I dream of finding him and demanding my money back, plus interest.

I'd take him home to shower, and give him breakfast. Nah, I'd probably just walk by him, and wonder wtf led him to that point.

Some are independent types that are just trying to survive.
Theres one that hides on Koh Larn, been there for over 20 years so the story goes.
The ones who had their wallet stolen etc - report them to the Police
I had a mate that ran into bad luck, mainly of his own doing - contracted aids. Anyway I gave him 20,000 baht and a lift to the Airport so he could get home to Aussie and get better treatment.
He's dead now, but at least he died at home.

How independent can you be if you're a beggar? Seems to me that's about as dependent as you can get.

I heard that the falang beggar scam started in the Filipines, a few people that were smack heads. They soon found out that they could make more this way than from doing something honest.

I got stung, In the Ambassador Restaurant in Roxas Boulevard, Manila. A French guy needed money to 'get back to his province', and of course would return the money to me. Strange that the amount being asked for would get you to Mindanao and back. I gave him some money anyway- nowhere near what he asked for- and felt like an idiot afterwards.
My idiocy was confirmed when I read that this was becoming a common scam in Manila when i was back in HK. We even had some falang beggars in HK periodically, although the police soon sorted that scum out.

Don't even pause to spit on them.
