Elsewhere on the board is a thread entitled "Rising damp". Now, for anyone of similar upbringing, the name Leonard Rossiter (sadly dead now in 1984) leaps to mind. Rather than eff up that thread, thought a thread on iconic sitcom characters might while away a moment or two

Anyway for Rising Damp, Rossiter played Rigsby, a lecherous landlord:





While in my opinion an iconic character, he surpassed himself in the role of Reggie Perrin in the classic Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin:



Obviously there will be cultural differences here, but be interested in who others think were classic, iconic sitcom characters.
