    Ladydrink etiquette for round-buyers

When in go go bars and you are buying rounds alongside others, a problem seems to revolve around what you do when you want to buy a girl a drink and its not your round. Should you pay for her drink, or just let the round-buyer pick it up.

I have seen two Bkk veterans deal with this problem. They walk into the bar, technically it is 'party A's' round, but 'party B' starts shouting

"O jest look at zeeze TEETEES. Ah, zeeze are loffly leddyboys."

...and then proceeds to buy all of them a drink. In theory the solution this pair have is for the entire round to be paid by the person inviting girls for the drink.

Trouble is that when its time to pay the tab, 'party B' then says.

    "Ah, but I 'aff no monnay ! Hon-Hi-Hon-Hi-Hon !"

haha, that's rich from the person who NEVER pay a round when going to the bars

For those who DO pay the rounds, we all know that we will be paying in the course of the night girl drinks for the other party, so at the end it balances out.

I have to admit that you dodging the bill when it was your turn (first time) was NOT a surprise, because having you pay an extra 100 THB more than we had spent on you already WOULD have been a HERESY in your book. Thank God, your savior was there to settle your bill. Which puts you at par with Scampy

Lady drinks are off the 'round tab' if you're out with me.

I understand that in some circles it is the way to go, depends how long you know the people you are going out with.

The other night, I took a small crowd to a ladyboy bar in PatPong. Girl drinks were bought all around (about 6 or 7, so we were quite popular with the ladyboys there as you can expect)

Here comes to the tab. The person who was supposed to pick it up (after we blew 5,000 THB for everyone on the other venue) decide to pull a Moog on it (it was only 1,500 THB quite reasonable for all the drinks). Guess who picked it up ? yeah, me, even though I had 1 drink and wasn't in the other venue when 5,000 THB was well spent on drinks. Did I bailed ? Did I run out of the bar pretending to make a phone call like many do ? no I didn't.

But yes it depends on the company.

    Interesting points raised.

A logical solution would be for separate tabs to be run in each bar. (This does cause extra work for the bar - but that is their job). Making people responsible for their own intake.

This would allow people to enjoy other's company without having to analyse

<Eg. About whether having walked into a bar having missed a THB5000 tab whether they are on the hook for a THB1500 tab, and then deducing what is the blended average of indebtedness per participant and likely reversionary recovery rate on a per bar median volatility rate for the rest of the evening>

Separate tabs looks the way to go - both to keep people relaxed and obviate the need for quantitative notation of THB 100 differentials.

If everything balances out in the long term and people have roughly similar appetites (eg Butterfly and Blake) , then thats not necessary.

"American Share" is the best way to go.

The problem comes when you take with you "guests", people who expect to be invited at every round. It's not "fair" to have the host pay for you too, so his guest becomes your guest in some rounds.

So basically I must have invited Moog dozens of times through my rounds, and yet he gets on his high horse and decide to dodge the bill because I have dared to order a 100 THB ladydrink on his round. Luckily I was too drunk to challenge him on his principles, or else I would have stuffed the bills on his forehead and stole his wallet and let him face the mamasan without a penny.

(it's OK Moog, always happy to buy you a drink)

Wow. A topic that ends with a workable solution and amicable resolution.

That must be a first for internet forums.

I have no problem with buying a girl a drink, but out of principal I will not pay for 100 baht for a glass of Cola, fuck right off.

I'd rather buy a can of coke from 7-11, sneak it in the bar and give it to the girl I fancy with an 84THB tip for her company.

Girls are supposed to encourage customers to buy them drinks. Thats why the bar-owner pays them a salary. If they got caught playing silly buggers like this, they could get fired.

Anyway, its not about the liquid. She is not in physical need of fluids Scampy. You're paying the bar for her attention, their air con etc etc.

Fuck it then, I'll give her 100 baht as a gift and she can keep all of it, as I do this I will throw an acid stare at the mamasan as if to say, 'You're not getting any of this you pudgy old sow'.

Yes, I think that is a preferable move rather than smuggling in cans of diet coke in your underpants.

I have to disagree here. If you’re out for a drink with mates rounds is the way to go no question. It’s about sharing and being a good citizen it doesn't matter if you come out a bit worse off than the next guy, in fact that means you’re the guy with the biggest LOVE.

If you want to buy some fluzzy a drink then that's your responsibility unless the round buyer catches you and wants to prove just how big his LOVE is.

Jesus no wonder some of you spend so much time on this forum. Did you guys miss Primary School?

Yes, but eighty baht is ......eighty baht.

That buys four cornettoes or one quarter of a copy of 'Pattaya - Patpong on steroids'.

Well its irrelevant anyway as these days Im not sad enough to hang around in gogo bars.

I am too busy rubbing shoulders with Willem Dafoe, eating ostrich and french fries and looking into single unit investments.

Strange that you want to import Willem Dafoe into this topic now, given when it was your topic last month, you felt introduction of same same person to be a digression......

No, but gogo bar etiquette didn't feature highly on the curriculum, as i recall.
