Got a Scalextric set from the UK for my 3 yo lad, (expensive!) spent nearly all of a Sunday to set it up and running. Turned around for a few minutes and he'd chewed the facking tires off the cars.

My mate who has a track wipes the rails with ATF (automatic transmission fluid) leaves overnight and then removes with elbow grease.

A little WD-40 on the joints would also do the trick. In this humid climate it does need some TLC. Motors should be Ok if kept in a "normal" room on a box of some sort. No problems with the cars only the track.

Spraying WD-40 on your finger and wiping on the tires keeps them from degrading.

Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?
I apologize if any offence was caused. unless it was intended.

Thai Slot Car usually has one but currently the layout is being changed, as it is occasionally. Was 4 lane but might go to 2 lane but with a longer track. Area is about 25 sqm. It has a big power, supply lap timing etc. Their hack cars are a bit "used" but then that is usually what happens! Some guys just go a round and around, other have $75+ cars

There are no "organized" racing classes but Friday evening over beers (BYOB) or Sunday afternoons, strangely also with beer

Pretty sure that in Old Siam Plaza in Bangkok China town, ground floor, there is a shop dedicated to train sets, Hornby and the like. Not been in it, but seen it a couple of times and thought it was odd. Go have a look.

I might just go down, have a few beers and check that out.

    Sounds like a giggle.

Perhaps he was attempting to mix in a little sociability with his OP as well.

Unbeknownst to him, TD is not a very social place.
Kind of lost that feature some time ago.
