    ANZAC Day 2014

    The ANZAC Dedication:For the Fallen
    by Laurence Binyon

    They shall not grow old,
As we that are left grow old.
    Age shall not weary them,
    Nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun,
    And in the morning,
    We will remember them.

Took my Thai wife to a dawn service in Sydney once.

She still talks about it, in reverence.

The Manager of the CWGC at Kanchanabiri is a friend of mine and I just borrowed this link from his Facebook page today. 20 photos from Gallipoli.

my father was always very quiet on the subject of my middle name, Alexander.
I didn't find out today who it came from.
apparently the guy was a bomber pilot, blown out the sky over Germany.

my father was reluctant to ever discuss the war at all, all he ever said was the experience was not a good subject for children.

Our dawn service starts at 4.45am sharp. Once again I took my two young girls with me (age 8 and 6). Next year my little boy should be old enough to go.

Out tiny little town manages to get around 1,200 people to the dawn service followed by a gunfire breakfast.

Later on there is two up at the local pub.

Both photos taken from a local FB page.
News is what someone, somewhere is trying to suppress - everything else is just advertising.

Proud of the bravery of your ancestors and the unstinting support you show them.
True Australians who acknowledge the debt owed to those courageous soldiers.

There will never be enough green to go around. I would be happy to buy you a beer and raise a glass with any one of you.
