    Stupid Thai Companies

    With today's Bangkok Post came an advertising flier from a company called Thai Nam Plastic (Public) Company Limited. It caught my eye because they say they produce liner for fish ponds....

    They have a web site: http://www.thainam.com

    I go to the web site but all it talks about are plastics for automobiles and shoes and a few other things. Obviously, way out of date. No mention of liners for fish ponds.

    But, the web site has an e-mail address: custserv@thainam.com.

    I write. It instantly bounces.

    The brochure has another e-mail address: sales@thainam.com

    I write. It instantly bounces.

    I want to pay my bill and close my account.

    I can't because I'm out here. My missus can't even though she has my name, my documents.

    My account has to remain open until I return to Thailand. They did suggest I came back to close it.

    I will be going to pay in 50stang bits when I get back next. I owe them 3000B or so.
    The woman at my local shop is a complete and utter imbecile. She claimed that it was never her responsibility to make sure i got my bill. Got two in a year from her shop.

    She just didn't care. Only time I actually got it was after calling her the spawn of a buffalo and monkey fucking. Bill turned up that month.

    Other bill was actually six months old when I got it as well.

    can you believe this one...

    I got an electric bill, with the numbers way out from the actual reading

    I called and they apologised and said they would send the correct bill

    when I received that, it was even worse, what twats

    I gave them the exact reading again and they said they would send another bill. They did, and it was the same as the first one. What complete fools, they make my blood boil, they don't care, all they want is for you to go away

    eventually, after talking to two managers, I managed to get a proper bill

    oh damn, this thread is about Thai companies, that was British Gas (they also supply electric).

    My surname is like many English names, a common male christian name and when I tried to cancel a lost ATM card, it was like that Laurel and Hardy skit.

    'What is your last name?'
    'My family name is ******'
    'But what is your last name'
    'That is my last name *****'
    'No, Mr ******, I need your last name'
    'My first name is ******** and my last name is ******'
    'Your first name is ******?
    'Nooooooooooooo THAT IS MY FAMILY NAME. MY FULL NAME IS ******** ******'

    oh yes, another

    I signed up to an Internet service online, then realised I had used the wrong account. I immediately phoned them and was assured that they would cancel the direct debit I had set up. I also went online and changed the account from the DD back to pay-as-you-go

    a couple of weeks later I noticed a DD amount had been taken from my account

    I called and was told that there was no record of my having cancelled, so I had to pay. I said I wanted to talk to a manager but was told I could not, but they would not charge me for next month, even though I had to give a months notice!!

    I noticed that I was being charged for the payg account as well as the anytime account, showing that I ahd changed back. So I rang again and the guy was a little more helpful, saying he would file a report and they would consider my claim, they would get back to me in 3/4 days

    no response except an account statement showing that they would be taking another months payment in a few days time!

    I then went to my bank, cancelled the DD and instructed them to refund my initial DD payment and get the money back from the company, which they have done

    oh damn, another English company, not Thai

Bidding against web developers & masters that provide this kind of service and to companies that see nothing wrong with a site that is two years out of date with dead links and email addresses. They just "have to have a website" but have no clue what it could, or should, do for their business.

    That's pretty much what got me out of doing that 10 years ago here. Everyone wanted a web site but couldn't figure out how it had anything to do with what they were doing.

    Speaking of stupid website, TOT and OISHI have only broken links on their "corporate" website, quite funny. Looks like they were done by teenage kids, probably the boss kids. Love it.

    That said, if you got to GE websites, it's full of errors too, with the wrong references etc... for their products, but being a big dysfonctional company, I guess they are excused.

    An Australian bank did something unbelievable to me.

    I had deposited a solicitor's very large cheque for the sale of my house and when I went to the ATM a week later, the balance was a bit short (like several hundred thousand dollars).

    I went into the bank and a teller told me that my account was overdrawn by two hundred and eighty thousand dollars! This is an ordinary cheque account that they would bounce a cheque if it was overdrawn by ten cents!

    I just blinked at him and he realised what he had said and said 'I'd better check on that'.

    Apparently, someone had entered the deposit as a debit!

    They reversed it and I went on my way, except that when I got my next statement, there were all these charges on it because the account had been overdrawn!!

    It took me ages to convince another teller that it was not in fact overdrawn, but was their error.

    Not surprisingly, they are no longer my bank.

    which mail server are you using ? some latent DNS issues in the host server could delay or have it bounce when it shouldn't

    It was a DNS error. When I looked earlier there was no MX record. Now there is. Sent another e-mail from this machine using Postfix (localhost) and it hasn't bounced yet.

    True are a bunch of morons to deal with, try canceling UBC, in the end it cost more to cancel than forgo the deposit, toss their dish out the window and walk away. If you do want to pay it, they have 3 shops here in Udon but none can accept payment for UBC. They keep telling me "thats not true its UBC".

    as you can see, there are stupid companies all over the world

    just get on with it

    I hate the arrogant farang attitudes that make fun of anything wrong in Thailand (although there is a lot wrong!) as if their own countries were any better

    My average mobile phone bill ws $100 a month
    They missed sending me a bill, 2 months later the bill is $1000
    I questioned and harassed these guys for 6 months and they could not produce the missing invoice.
    I offred them a deal where i paid 1/2 the bill to call it quits.
    They refused.
    I left the country and paid them SFA.
    They tried writing to me at my old address, that my brother returned NATA (Not at this Address)
    They gave up, stupid pricks!
