This is a genuine question to those with Thai wives (which seems to be a lot of you).

First let me say I have a deep respect for Thailand and Thai people. The women are cute, intelligent and treat men well (sometimes). But why is it that so, so many ex-pats are married? Is it just me who has a phobia of commintment?

I think, in general, ex-pats seems to be an adventurous bunch. And I share the mentality to get the fuck out of Europe, America, Australia or wherever else you come from.

But I don't get this marrigage business. Why do you feel the need to committ to the rest of your fucking lives with one woman? The easy answer is love I know. But to me, that is just an excuse. Is it because you don't think your life can be anything better? Do you truly want to spend the rest of your days with the same woman?

I know I am weird. But I LIKE being alone. I revel in not relying on people. It makes me strong. I have never been in love. Maybe I thought I was once, but as I have been told countless times, if you need to think you are not in love.

Someday I too will probably be married to an Issan girl, but until then, I fail to understand the huge attraction for marriage. Please educate me?

I found a few like that actually. But I didn't really want to spend the rest of my life with them. Maybe my rich Mercedes driving chick, but I didn't want to be a gold-digger. (just yet)

When I don't think my life is going anywhere. That is the only reason I could see for settling down and comitting my life to someone else.

Huh, most of erm are pretty forgiving when you get caught shagging other birds and generally don't mind you taking a small wife or 3

If leaving the West is adventurous then by implication expats are that. Otoh I know some that don't stray further than 200 yards from home, for weeks on end.

This is not a troll. It is something I am interested in knowing more of. But the post was boring and shit.

Obviously that bit about me having repect for Thailand and her people is not strictly true. But 1% of the women are genuine and nice.

Ho hum. What a fucking boring thread eh?
