ok, if you see a bloke slapping his wife about you walk on by,right,

but what if its a child,

i parked up my car in the nearby market carpark, and herd a child screaming,hysterically,
a young man, was slapping this little girl with some force about the head,
my wife immediately grabbed my arm and pulled me away,
he picked up the child and threw her headfirst into the truck,the beating stoped,
one minute earlier and i would have had to step in, would you?

having a few beers with some pals and wives, this drunk barges in and throws a pair of handcuffs onto the table, an off duty copper demanding money for beer,
the woman turn away and look at the floor, he is being verry abusive about
thai woman with foreigners,
he then grabs hold of my mates little girl, she,s 12 years old, and starts malling her, she was terrified,
she got away from him and ran arround the tables, nobody moved,
so i stood and put my hand on her shoulder, and waited for his next move,
a woman and a chap with a gun tucked in the back of his trousers, then appeared and escorted him away,
i got no thanks for standing up for the girl, and was told it was not my business,
would you have looked away?
dont get me wrong ime no hero, wel into my 60,s and these bloks were half my age,
what pissed me off was being told i should look the other way,
and they all sat and let this oaf mess with this child.

Is your MATE Thai or farang? Is it just a bar and if so why is the kid there? I've never seen anything like this in the time I've been here, STAGED or otherwise. Total BS as far as I'm concerned.

I got involved in a serious domestic dispute a few years back. Looking back, would I do it again? No. Not a cat in hells chance. Do what the police do when it comes to domestic disputes. Nothing.

I believe I would have stepped in......regardless of the consequences and whatnot.

Would even create a better moment to give this brute a taste of his own medicine.

What's wrong with people? Beating on pre-teens, toddlers....

3 farang 3 thai woman, watching a street parade, not a bar, coffe and cakes,beer from the fridge,
in the first instance the child was hysterical, so not staged,

In a normal country i'd step in .. but are you talking about Thailand?

One false move and your actions could be seen as Farang v Thai and before you know it you'd have 10 monkeys surrounding you and beating you to a pulp

I probably would get involved to some extent just because I can't control myself. I got a bloody nose from trying to break up some locals fighting a bit back. At the least call out the action as wrong and yell our call the police, call the police. It might make the ass think.

But to be honest, Thais don't really react to violence and don't seem to hold grudges long especially when its someone from their community who is involved. Often the is no criminal prosecution of violent acts. As I mentioned in another thread, there was an 8th grader who knifed a fellow student. His punishment was just to move to the other high school in the area. He may have had to pay something to the other kids family as well. The victim was knifed int he liver and spent three weeks in Surin hospital. There are lots of events going on that never make the papers.

I hope that I would take action again to stop abuse of others. If we stand on the sidelines the crimes just continue. Apathy is a gift of freedom to criminals.

i have to say i was exstremely apprehensive with the copper situation, but she did come and stand next to me so my hand was forced so to speak,

with the little girl, she was thrown into the pickup before i could interveen, fortunatly for me i think,

nothing came of either situation, but i ask myself if push came to shove how far would i have gone , i dont know i realy dont know.

Tend to jump in before I think, reflex action, previous employment, not just in Thailand.
Drunken cops, border soldiers in my case with guns or just pissed up locals with guns. If you act, act fast and get the weapon away, only had to do it once out here, family dispute, everyone is family out this way.
No mention of the incident the next day, but Thais tend to shoot, or use other weapons in the heat of the moment, booze or not.

The quarrels of Thais don't concern me any more than of a pack of soi dogs, no matter the age or gender. Helped a number of beaten up or otherwise injured Farang, though, drove them to their place or to a clinic to tend to the wounds.
