Also, I said I am not allowed to ask the broker for his actions
Interesting....but I don't think too many here on TD will find it interesting......it sounds too much like their Thai wives talking.

How are you're Thai lessons coming along, Davey?
^ Don't you want to talk to other people that aren't your wife
Since arriving in Laos last month for work, I thought I better start speaking Lao. I actually understand spoken Lao fairly well, because both ex's would speak Issan-Lao to me and I'd reply in Thai. I can read/write Lao reasonably well, (which is more than my Issan ex's can do, since Issan-Lao is only a spoken language).
But I usually haven't bothered to speak Lao because it buggers up my Thai ==> meaning that many Lao words are exactly the same as the Thai word, but the tone you use is different from Thai.
So I remember the word in Lao/Thai, but bugger up the tone because I've got too confused....
Of course, many Lao words are completely different from their Thai equivalent, so I try to use these when I am speaking Lao, (Lao people understand Thai, so it's not a big deal if I forget the word). But my brain automatically urges me to speak Thai, not Lao. So I'm forever having to correct myself.
Anyway, my Lao knowledge is gaining ground on my Thai knowledge. I phoned an ex during the week and we were chatting in Thai, but I automatically said 'bor mi' instead of 'mai mi', and various other Lao words. Went down a storm! :)

So you quote Not Have in Lao and Thai!
Good luck to those that speak Lao/Thai but I still think there are not to many that can roll it straight off the tongue!
I know a man from Issan very well who is a friend.
He claims to speak Thai very well but in fact my wife struggles to understand him.
Fact is many Thais are far to polite to tell a Falang their Thai language is not making it.
That,s not a pop at you Simon as you may well be one of a very few.
