I have seen documentaries and read books that claim Islam and Christianity or Catholicism in all forms were meant to be the same,
    God is allah?
some Christians are calling God Allah!
Personally i don't care, but i find it interesting to read and know more.

Christians , Muslims and Jews all worship the same God .
They just have a different view about who the Prophets are .
Jesus (The same person)exists for Christians, Jews and Muslims .

Yep but the reality is that most so called Christians have evolved from their first religious book. The stupid muslims are still in the Neanderthal state of religious evoltion.

Islam is the perfect religion as it is the thickest skinned, which allows it to rip off all bases by revering OT/NT prophets, except that this is because they were all Muslims. That's right, from Abraham through Noah to Moses and Christ and the others, they were all Muslim.

It seems Allah sent them down to pave the way for salvation, but they all fcuked up so he rustled up Mo to sort it out.

The mussies actually believe in Jesus; he's one of their prophets. A nice way to try and convince the people you are threatening "convert or die" that it's much the same religion.

Of course, try and convince any of them that he was actually the Son of God and they get all arsey. Having said that, Joseph must have been a bit of a tosser when Mary said "Honest, it was an angel, luv".

Not bad. Indeed. Muslims believe that Jesus was a prophet, just not the last prophet (who was Mohammad). Islam (not necessarily particular muslims!) revere jesus as a prophet - they (muslims) just take great exception to the fact that christians think he was "the son of god". according to islam, prophets are men - men who were tasked with passing on the word of god - but just men.

There is a fair old part of me that thinks the islamic version is more - dunno, equitable? God - men. The christian version - God, jesus, (other beings) proles (us) just grates a bit.

Islam at its base is supposed to be a set of real day to day guidelines. Muslims believe that jesus (the prophet) was more of an "ideas" man, while mohammed (the prophet) was more of a "details" man.

Comparative religions is an interesting area - not that I (personally) believ any of that shit of course.

Personally, I believe religion is a crutch for those who cannot work out their own moral compass. It does not need an ethereal body to understand the basic, underlying concept of all religions: Don't be a fucktard.

nidhogg, great description. My background is Catholic, thanks to being the offspring of an Italian mother and Quebecois 'father'. When I was a kid, we would know if people are Catholic, Anglican, Protestant etc, because usually people would say it. There are loads of Catholic schools in Canada.

It was only when I was older that fanatics were starting their own churches, preaching 'Christianity', but saying that only their version was the right one. They would argue with anyone who didn't follow their beliefs exactly.

I haven't followed any religion since I was a kid, but even then, going to church was just an obligation and something you were supposed to do on Sundays, holidays and crap like that. The good thing was that growing up a long way away from my Italian grandparents, we were never pushed by my mother to go to church.

Interesting concept. I think it's also a crutch for those who are afraid of dying, as evinced by the crowds of fucking coffin dodgers who start going to church regularly as soon as they get their first set of piles.

Most of the hebrew scriptures were written in persia, during the jews extended summer break there. But the similarities between the other monotheistic religions and zoroastrianism are entirely coincidental, naturally.

Strange when you think about it- these days Iran is mainly Shiite, so the original monotheistic religion they concocted was washed, recycled, and sold back to them under a different guise.

Where did you come from and how is it possible that you exist? Less that a speck of dust on an atom in the massive beyond your puny understanding blazing universe you dare to question ANYTHING?
Just the fact that you are conscious, inhabit a fleshy body for a brief period of time in stream of infinite time in this infinite universe and are aware of it must make you also aware that, all things considered, anything is possible.
What is consciousness anyway? How can it be that I briefly am and can wonder how and why?

I believe that a lot of religions come from the same start. Legends do tend to travel well. Just think how many countries have dragons in their mythology... gossip travels.

I don't believe in any religion but I do believe Islam, Christianity and even Judaism had the same starting points

The Romans had their pagan myth. The Arabs wanted one, too.

Over a thousand years later the world is still losing blood and treasure over this nonsense, simply because people are afraid of their own mortality.
