    Getting older...

Obviously, this thread is not for the young bucks like Socal, who wear their youth and inexperience like a badge of honour, but increasing years happen to the rest and best of us.

At 43, the worst effect I'm noticing is my eyesight. From someone who had perfect vision, I now can't see text on my mobile phone, the computer or books without reading glasses. Remote controls are a nightmare (without glasses) until I learn where buttons are and I have to have reading glasses just to see prices when shopping. I've got used to this.
But today, was a whole new experience. I'd bought a new brand of haircare products and I had to get out of the shower dripping wet and pad across the flat to find a pair of glasses to figure out which was the shampoo and which the conditioner.

    Anyone else deteriorating?

Fucked back and a stomach ulcer at the age of 36

I'm more perturbed about the mental changes. You know you're getting old when you're a man, and walking through Debenhams you start admiring crockery and saucepans.

I shall be 50 in September. Like you, in my forties, i had to buy reading glasses. The ones i'm wearing now are missing an arm, it is hot and humid and they are sliding down my nose.

I can see, but to read is shite. Really got me, unable to read without these damn things..

At least they are a bit funky, black and white. The last ones were metal and gave me a rash.

Mt eyesight has always been poor, but in the last year has gone from -350 ish to -500.

And they get tired easily, so even with new glasses I still can't see shit after a few hours on the computer.

Come complain when you need two pairs of glasses. One for normal, walking around vision, one for reading and computer.

Fighting the bifocals, as I am not sure they would work with so much computer work.

Still, 53 and counting. The alternative is much, much worse!

LOL.....you young lasses. Still a lot to learn. Bless.....

I wouldn't worry about any of this chicken shit stuff too much as in the grand scheme of things its fuk all.

A fuked back is serious shit though.

When one has terminal cancer or a debilitating stroke that's when things tend to get a tad serious. Life threatening and end of pleasure of living.

That's the way I approach any illness I have or get, got a nice hole in my face full of stitches after having a cancer cut out today.

No friggin problems, its just a flesh wound now innit.

    Carry on.

Think its about what you want it to be about.

I can live with deteriating eye sight. I have little personal vanity, so even coke bottle lenses would not phase me.

Mental acuity. Now losing that scares the shit out of me. My working environment is extremely intellectual, and there, lurking in the background is my father suffering from dementia before he died.

    Now that does worry me.

Eyes were fine until 50, now I am in the exact same boat as you. Thats another reason for a smart phone if you program the tune you know you is calling.

This might be good for you love.

My eyes started to go at 30, maybe the urban myth about excessive wanking is true.
I have to trim my nose, eyebrows, and ears now and have started occasionally sitting on my bollocks.

Scares the shit out of me, too. I work with dementia and EMI, and the fact that I might end up like that one day does my head in. It's truly a horrible way to go, for sufferers and their families.

My gran is currently in early stages of dementia. It has to be the most horrific way a human being can go wrong. Being hereditary I can completely understand how that would play on Nids mind. Not nice at all.

Firstly I must say that its Impossible to Engage in excessive wanking, just a fun bit of crack innit.

Secondly, today I actually bought one of those thingos that you put up your nose and in your ear and it cuts the protruding hairs out.

Battery operated mother fuker that looks like a minature Dildo.

Shit. Don't tell Socal as he will want one to put up his bottom.

Bit small for him though, wouldn't touch the sides.
