Scaff,s really are the hardest Bastards!

If you have had any connection with the building game especially in England you will know what I'm on about.

There is frost on the ground but as soon as the lorry pulls up out jumps a gang in shorts.
Many will look like the Michelin man as as body building is a number one pass time for these fellers!

They soon get stuck in throwing the steel polls about why they shout at each other balancing on the boards with no fear of falling what so ever.

Its true that it is hard graft and there are not many scaff,s that will shy away from telling you this.

To put the work into perspective though you only have to take a look at scaffolding Thai style.

Same job but sometimes improvising and using bamboo rather than steel polls and having no use for a ladder.

No need to be into body building either but every need to be able to climb like a Monkey.

Captured these couple of fellers recently working a couple of floors up!




I can not stand hights,just looking at these two was giving me vertigo!

Well at least on this job they were using conventional steel scaffolding.



Perhaps the Thais win this one and take the title for being the hardest Bastards,or maybe we should leave at at just the craziest

IMO, the worst thing about being a scaff is that when the job is finished, you have nothing to show for your work .
You cant drive by a few years later and say "I built that wall"

^Correct. I knew the owner of a London Scaffolding company,and at the end of the budget year,if a Government department needed to hide money that they had not spent,He would be called in to supply invoices for ghost scaffolding work. Who could prove it wasn't there in the first place.

Hong Kong women scaffolders are called Spiders. They are celebraties and have documentries filmed about their work

Those guys that do this know the risks they take, they also know they won't get a better job.

I know people who have had dealing with these chaps who do this work in the uk, I got the impression that lot of them are into mountain cliff climbing and this work is a nice reasonably well paid job that gets you the adrenaline fix.

as for the fear, once you get to a height of about 50 ft.... you don't really notice the increasing height. familiarity then breads contempt

I take my hat off to the men who do that work as I am shit scared of heights and just could not physically do it.

I've known a good few scaffolders in my time, none were into base jumping or mountain climbing that I knew of. They all had one thing in common though, they were thick as shit.

I met a couple of South African salvage divers the other day, they're on a thousand bucks a day , not the poxy wage Gravy's mates are on.

I saw some very scary scaffolding in Zanzibar.

Here, it's all posh with steps, not ladders going up. And a great big chute into a, wassit in English, big metal container. So as not to get dust into the flats.

My cats loved visiting the neighbours!!! One went on his hollies for three days on the sixth floors couch. I lived on the first.

Bamboo scaffolding may look unsafe , but it would be more flexible than steel .
Steel scaffolding does move and bamboo would nt be as rigid as steel

Just watched your You Tube vid Hazz , my palms and feet are all clammy now.

I remember watching a documentary a while back and although not quite that high, it was a lot more dangerous. Some guys using old rickety bamboo ladders to get up cliff faces to get the bird spit which makes birds nest soup .

Its a long way down when looking down from 30 meters surrounded by fuk all except a harness.

There's a machine in Europe that reaches 120 metres. No foking way Dude.
