Does anyone know the back story on the Ed at Phuketwan....?
He is probably a pretty good guy but he is so aggressive to his readership and many stories seem to be heavily censored/edited/biased as though some one has him under a gun?
Sort of feel certain empathy for him a he seems to want the best for Phuket but maybe the pressure has sent him down the abyss.
Told me his rag is essentially not for profit and financed by his savings.
Maybe he is suffering from PTSD, Troppo or...?
Shame really as quite like his on line rag..very entertaining.
Again if mods think inappropriate and delete ... I will understand.

About a year ago I followed some story back to his site (can't remember what now).

My impression was the guy was a complete tool.

I lived in Phuket for years, but never met the guy. He does come up with some good, investigative stories, but I've no idea why he has to be so aggressive with anyone who questions him or has a different opinion. He should just accept that the world is full of dickheads - I did......

Methinks a well-earned break in some sort of mountain retreat would do him good.

He use to rant at the posters to the degree that many just quit readership. I for one. He was pathetic in his support of the unsupportable Developers. He also was sponsoring a IT class in his BangTao location. I never hear how it went, but suspect not well as his personality is like a Tasmanian Devil.

The other Establishment Rag under the Bangkok flagship is also worthless, but it survives on property developers money I've heard.

gotta wonder why he has that comment option...seems it gives him a chance to vent his apparent frustration by personal attacks on expats without risk of litigation or summary execution.

We note that all his ranting about corruption and tourist safety is nicely packaged benign rhetoric.
His human interest stories are okay though.
All his stories about police arrests etc must be just be press releases ..does not appear to actually investigate stories. Seems more and more reprints from other media now.

The pissing contests are sometimes fun to read ...he never puts the old brain in gear or switches to receive though.

Shame...he really should take a retreat vacation with a therapist in tow.
