Thread: Dry July; can you do it?

I know, it's just crept up on me. Time for some changes. Like I said, I've dropped a bit lately - just a matter of keeping on top of it. A bit of weight suits some people, it doesn't suit me at all.

My missus thinks I am, but I try and explain that it's just her perception since she doesn't come from a drinking background and that all Aussies drink at least a six pack a night, most nights.

I thought I had the perfect reason/excuse to break dry july last night, a bedtime whiskey was well in order...but the missus wouldn't have any of it, so I moaned on facebook and while sympathetic my friends there wouldn't let me either.

The traffic was completely mental, a normal trip of 1-1.5 hours turned into a 6 hour door to door trip (~4.5 hours of driving). This was with a pregnant woman and 3 children aged 10 and under after a full day at Seaworld, Ancol.

However, I held out. Day 4 done.

Friday afternoon has arrived, and dry July has fucked off.

If you by chance are walking along the wayside,
And see a drunkard sitting on his backside,
It's probably me, having a little backslide.

Friday Night Footy has just started, very tempted to have a couple. (I deliberately left the beers out of the fridge, less temptation to drink warm beers).

Well done Monkey Boy, but no backsliding. If I can get through one of Mr NR's delicious roast dinners (he even made red wine gravy, the so & so!) without drinking wine, you can do the footy without beer. Mr NR has even given up smoking and is on the e cigarettes, but we'll see whether he lasts at giving up booze & smoking together. Hope he does.
