    Vegetables are bad for you

    102-year-old refuses five-a-day

Mary's friend Maggie wished for a Chippendale for her birthday

A woman who has lived through two world wars, 21 prime ministers and who has just celebrated her 102nd birthday puts her longevity down to "eating no veg".
Mary Doherty, who lives at Urmston Cottage care home in Greater Manchester, said the only vegetables she eats are potatoes, peas and onions.
Mary used to work in her family's bakery and loves good home cooking. Her friend Maggie Redmond, also a resident at the Cottage, will be celebrating her 102nd birthday in June. When asked what she would like as a suitable present, Maggie replied," a Chippendale".

Isn't this like saying that one eats no meat....except beef, lamb, and pork.

Some of the people who live the longest don't particularly eat very healthy or go about their lives in a healthy way. There are other factors involved, such as heredity, that I believe. I know my great grandma was terrible - I eat much "better" that she does. She died at age 95 - smoked, drank anything, etc....

Vegetables are great, most anyway - maybe not marrow, but marrow is extinct now like the dodo, the dodo was a flightless bird which ate vegetables. Funny isn't it how you don't see marrow anymore, but I guess corgettes were the 'fun size' version.

I don't understand why this thread is called vegetables are bad for you. That old nosebag has done well to get past a century, I'm sure she didn't play hockey so why doesn't the post say 'Hockey Is Bad For You' - anyway - I like veggies but in Hong Kong you have to give them a wash because they are full of chemicals.

Happy birthday to granny, if she gets the Chippendale it will be her last.

FUCK the Chippendales anyway, all their good for is old grannies. You wouldn't get Asian women saying goodbye to their husbands for a night out piss up with the girls to watch male strippers, no they should know their place - and that's in the kitchen boiling vegetables.

"I'm an outsider by choice, but not truly. It's the unpleasantness of the system that keeps me out. I'd rather be in, in a good system. That's where my discontent comes from: being forced to choose to stay outside.
My advice: Just keep movin' straight ahead. Every now and then you find yourself in a different place."

I can't believe this came from the BBC, what is the fooking world coming to when a BBC report can contain....

puts her longevity down to "eating no veg"
    and then...

the only vegetables she eats are potatoes, peas and onions
Standards are certainly slipping. How can you believe these ****s about the Iraq war and what Madonna is going to wear next week if they can't get the fuckin facts straight in a 2 paragraph report about an old dear who eats some vegetables

Next up....Smoking is good for you.....old man lives to 105 whilst smoking no cigarettes a day

^ You've only just discovered that you can't trust the BBC or, for that matter, CNN or FOX either.

Go to YouTube (if you can yet) and type in Peace, Properganda and the Promised Land and you'll see just why.
