Drug Testing : In your honest opinion how young is acceptable?
As I have previously posted I have been working on a new drug testing device which is in the final stages of development.
It has been a bit of a learning curve with regard to how people attempt to mask the device to prevent positive testing as well as methods of adulteration to circumvent the proper function of the device.
Anyway, all these problems now have design solutions but the final request by the distributors is to design a device that can be closed easily by a 12 year old child but remain leak and tamper proof.
It has come to light there are plans to commence on-the-spot random drug testing of school children when they arrive at school and I immediately thought this practice is ethically not correct.
After I thought about this matter I agreed to change the design and now believe this form of testing is actually a good idea and my opinion is not commercially driven.
Drugs are a scourge on our society and as drugs such as Ecstasy and Amphetamines are so easily available these days younger and younger kids are being targeted and it has turned into a huge market.
I have absolutely no problems with agreeing to my children being tested as long as it is done in a safe and proper government audited environment.
My questions to my fellow Teakdoor members are as follows:
1. At what age should these tests commence?
2. Would you allow your children to be tested?
Any other positive or negative comments are appreciated.
