Tasteful Gifs on the forum

Ok so maybe not gifs but slideshows as gif quality aint that good, now I have to admit this wasn't my idea so if you think its a crap idea I will tell you whose idea it was, if you think its a great idea then I shall try and take all credit for it and ban the guy whose idea it was so he wont get the credit for it only kidding

I think with a lot of threads slide shows would probably be better as you wouldn't have to scroll so far if there are 50 pictures on the thread, also for getting to the bottom of the thread to read a last post your browser aint goint to be kicked all over the place so much, the load times will still be the same but the page wont be so long, ie scrolling wise.

We are looking for some software to chuck on the server to make this easy to do, ie you just upload the selection of pictures then paste the url as you would do for normal pictures.

Anyway for now if anyone wants some gif software just pm me.

Can you slow it down a bit I'm just trying to work out what's going on at the castle and an elephant pops into view and then a big mountain lands on the elephant like the Monty Python foot and then I miss the next one because I'm priming myself for the castle.....Apart from this I think that it's a sparkling idea.

Yep they can be set at any speed you want, the default is 1/100 of a second which seems a little bit too fast that one is probably not a good example as it is just odds and ends pictures, how bout this one, same speed but same genre.

Ok I slowed this one down quite a bit, but for many threads this would be a better way to post pictures, ie hotels and restaurants and maybe bars and stuff like that.

^^Yes that's nice....What you should do though is have the sequence of 4 pictures repeated 25 times, but have a monkey in a sailor outfit sitting on the swing in only one of the pictures....It will really freak people out.

Hotel/Thong Pa Phum/SomJaiNuke near 3 Pagodas pass
The Hotel Som Jai Nuke is in the town of Thong Pa Phum, the only good thing about this town is that it is the nearest major town to the 3 pagoda pass, everything in town gets real sleepy as soon as it gets dark and things get a bit boring, it's a 90km drive onwards to get to the Burmese crossing point,Probably the nearest crossing point for people in Kanchanaburi, anyway this place has ants wars in the rooms, no bum guns or toilet rolls, you do get soap and towels and fan rooms start at 200baht per night, also you get a bottle of water.

Off road parking is available, and the room comes with a tv with Thai tv channels

Great idea - would you be able to stop the photos on a particular one if you wanted to look more in depth at that photo?

I am not sure yet, xzyte is having a look at differant software to stick on the server, obviously it is only suitable for some threads or topics, ie the first one I stuck up is way too varied, the second beach one looks good, but the hotel one has too many colors in the original pics to make a good gif, gifs are limited to 256 colors.

There will still be the original gallery and original way to post pictures as a lot of threads wouldn't benifit from this, some pictures contain too much detail and you need to spend some time looking at them, ie strollers thread on Klong Toey wouldn't benifit from this and it would detract from the pictures, anyway we got to be first for everything and this is the next thing also we will still have the video uploading gallery.

Just read your post properly, no everybodies pictures wont be lumped together, this is just another way for posters to post pictures.

Yea I agree, it's allright I suppoise but I prefer just scroling through the pics

Howzabout being able to click on the slideshow and being taken to a gallery where the picks could be viewed full size at leisure. This doesn't have to be a real gallery, although that would be nice.

I think every picture should be replaced by a random one from BenBaa's gallery. Not that I have looked in there, of course, but someone told me there were some crackers in there. I can't remember who told me but it might have been Marmite.
