Thread: Are a lot of older expat/farangs pompous bores?

I would be classed as a bore, but pompous , I dont think so an old ex truckie has not got a lot to be pompous about.

Thailand is full of whore mongers so hardly pompous. But boring perhaps. How so many farangs can live in Thailand and not make much of an effort to learn the language or mix with non whores I don't know. They must be too lazy to bother learning anything new.

What has the latter got to do with boring...some might say if you don't bonk hookers in Thailand your boring.

I mix with non hookers ...if alcoholics and madams count...learn lots of new stuff.

Would taking life,ones self and tongue in cheek threads too seriously qualify as being pompous and boring ?

Not sure about pompous,boring or supercilious but most expats that I know are a bit psychotic or atleast strange in some way, I'm definitely a long way down that path according to my kids...maybe it's the weather or the water?

Banging the odd hooker is one thing but if your whole life is bars and hookers that's rather boring and repetitive.

Life is about variety.

probably the "hooker bangers" are more mentally healthy than those, who seek a "girlfriend" here (or more) and end up with a hooker, called girlfriend, that spends most time in "the hospital" or wherever else its fairly expensive to stay...

i think, most farangs here have serious mental health issues...

masochists or narcissists or all of it...

I'm surprised a mental health centre hasn't opened for farangs in Pattaya

they just forgot putting up the signs, when entering town...

The old'ns might get boring after 6 or more beers, but the young'ns are much more self absorbed.

Probably not completely accurate, as this imaginary self-importance crosses all generations. Though, it might be expressed differently as one ages....
