a mate wants to borrow money....

a mate of mine just asked me to borrow 10 million rupiah......

for a 'female friend' to open a clothes shop.

he said he'd guantee the money, he also asked me not to mention it to his missus, cos she wouldnt understand, he/she will repay 2 mill per month plus 1 mill interest....

am i stoopid to lend it to him?

it's one thing to borrow a few bucks to get by until payday--- totally out of line to ask for enough to open a store

lend it him then. seems a cheap way of finding out if he is a true mate or not.

you can really open a shop for that amount?

why dont you have a chain of stores by now?

So he is gonna pay back 2 million per month, probably on a 30 percent mark up, so from month one he is going to be selling over 6 million rupies of clothes per month, normally shops work on 10 percent to 20 percent of their stock turned over every month, sure there aint a bit of wishfull thinking on his part, most businesses dont make a profit till at least well into there second year.

Fuck the shop. Or his reasons, is he a "Mate" or is an acquaintance? he thinks he needs the money, if you loan it to him it is to him and he pays you. Not the girl; that's his problem. If he understands that, cool. If not, fuck it.

She does a runner he still owes you those payments they come out of his pocket not her "profits, or lack thereof

Lending money and keeping friends rarely go together well. If you do lend it be prepared to lose the money and a friend.

Well, Lady Hawk and Danbo beat me to the reply...

If you can afford to lose it, go ahead and lend it.

But consider it gone, and you'll sleep better at night.
