Just look at their little confused faces when you tell them England is an itsy bitsy country that would fit into Issan and that Australia does indeed have white people but it isn't in Europe....
It's similar the other way around. I remember when I was about 10-12 years old and I told my friends that I went to Thailand. They either did not know where it was or never heard of it, or both. I had one person that thought it bordered France. I know there is a serious lack of geography in USA schools...

at 100 or even 200 baht a day, not much incentive to work fast, better make more money and work slow. Paying them more in that kind of work, might not mean working faster, just bonus to work at the same speed

They don't even have it as a subject in Thai schools....they teach social studies which when I did it was split into 3 separate subjects - history, geography and RE - here they do it as 1 subject and most of it is Thai history...... now wonder some can't read a map.

Its hard to comprehend how much 120-200 baht is - I mean I burn that amount just getting into Bangkok from Nonthaburi. Just out of curiousity, not that anyone would probably follow it, but does Thailand have a minimum wage?

School uniforms have very little, if anything, to do with education standards - while most British ex-colonies (and a few others) still have this system of uniforms does that then mean the standard of education is better in Malaysia than Germany? Uganda than Sweden? The UK than Switzerland?

As far as downplaying elitism in terms of designer clothing versus St Vincent de Paul's . . . just having a school uniform already delineates those in a wealthy/elite school to those from state or poorer schools.

How the children are taught and the materials available to them is infinitely more important.

Why? Are school uniforms a matter of national security?

My wife is a teacher and I have spent some time at school.
They do try to keep every child doing exactly the same thing at th same time.
They do discourage any small bit of originality in the students, if they parrot each other then they are easier to control and you only have to teach one kid instead of 25 different students at once.
Uniforms have no bearing on that really, but it is what is put inside the student, not outside that makes an individual.

The government also likes that, makes the Masses easier to control.

And as far as the advancement in classes does not seem to be as stated,, TOXIN said his dad was a poor rice farmer,,,, so.

Is playing a video of the king being insulted a matter of national security?

Besides that several issues were touched on that given the Thai way of thinking maybe be considered that.

Just as well very little would happen if they blocked TD. Everyone here (except CMN) knows how to get past the blocks.

But, I think you're being a bit over sensitive as His Majesty hasn't had one bad word said against him as far as I can see.

    Yes, we know that.
You (the Americans in general, not you necessarily) are totally crap at geography and history and understanding stuff.

I think part of the reason Americans are crap on geography is the fact it's a big country. If you come from a little island in the North Sea you are aware of physical geography from an early age. Or, living in Europe, you can drive through several countries in one day. In America, it's not possible to transit 1/2 the country on an innerstate highway in one day.

As far as history and understanding stuff...how many times we gotta pull y'all's chestnuts outa the fire after you get into another one of those little European spats?

    loada bollux boner.
of course it's possible, but nobody does it.
i lived 200 miles from London, been there twice.
Fukk popping to lisbon for an afternoon.
    Nonsense.
The reason you are crap at geography is that you were never encouraged to look at a map.

Drove from Bonn to Paris one day and it was no sweat so that's what I referring to...

you were referring to yourself personally.
It's silly to suggest that people from the UK can read a map because it's smaller than America.
    We are simply taught better.
