    Two Years - Thirty Years

This month marks the second year of my retirement and residence in Thailand. And, it's now been thirty years since I lived in the mainland US.

I'm trying hard to find some meaning in these two milestones, but I can't.

..beyond being an obvious sign that you don't want to live on the Mainland USA?

This is the start of my 5th year in Thailand... I'm quite happy... nice looking girls... few westerners ... I don't really have many wild nights in Thailand anymore but i supoose that is a good thing.

^ this is the start of my 12th consecutive year in Thailand (I lived here previously) and my 15th total year of living in LoS.

Every year I tell myself this will be the last year I live here and every year I find a reason to stay

Funny place Thailand, for all its faults, it gets under your skin

From the time I first visited back in '77 I knew I wanted to live here some day. I never thought it would happen. But, as they will, things just sort of worked out.

^well, assuming I stay, next year will mark an important mile-stone in my life: it'll be the longest I've ever lived in one place

If you read the sentence you wrote backwards you will find meaning in it

It's simple to figure. Once you have been to Asia, what else is there? Happy Aniversary.

AC, think of the two milestones as being real distance markers on the road of your life and you will see that the two year milestone is located inside the 30 year milestone. You could make the 30 year milestone end at 28 years and have the other starting right next to it, or even placed on top of it, but you may be best to think of the two year milestone as being a different colour or shape than the 30 year milestone. This way you can have use the two milestones in parallel. Of course, if the month of your retirement and stay in LoS do not coincide you could use two milestones of the same shape and colour, but this could be confusing as when reach one of the milestones you may be unsure as to which one it is; especially if the months are close together. I hope this helps.

Just think of the Karma Points you're accumulating.
