Vile Musty Smell from the AC

I think one of our ginjoks went to lizard heaven judging from the smell coming from the evaporator unit. Opened it up a bit to look inside but he must have been trying to keep warm deep inside as I couldn't find the source of the smell. Never smelled a dead ginjok, but this could be it.

Call someone to service your air con. I can't imagine a ginjok can smell very bad; they're so tiny. Maybe a gecko or, as VN smells, a rat.

It does smell like a rat. I think I'll add a little lacquer thinner and Prickly Heat to the Detol as the stench has a real bite to it.

Leave it, if it's a dead jinjok then the smell will be gone in 4 days.

Air conditioners should be serviced regularly as the emission of tainted cool air can be quite deadly to one's general health not only their nose.

I think the mystery is solved. We haven't used the AC for a few months and the drain line feeds down into the sump pit for the laundry. The wind was blowing quite hard today and the musty smell from the sump was making its way into the drain pan of the evaporator. I took the whole thing apart and it was dry and clean as a bone, but I could still smell the odor. There is a slight "accidental trap" where the drain pipe is almost horizontal from the unit to the outside so I poured some water in the pan. Smell stopped. Not using the AC must have dryed out the trap and the wind was just right today. Weird, but good to not have any dead rats or ginjoks to clean up.
