Poolcleaner did this topic so much better than you you KW.

Perhaps it's because of endless nights of banter ; and when we finally met in person - and watched the Japan vs Australia soccer match and PC and I watched the game AND engaged in REAL banter - but you sat 3 inches from the TV in the bar in Nana and ignored us for the whole night I will always think you are a bit of a twat - maybe you are not; but your online persona - as it always has - perceives otherwise ....

Anyway, carry on as you please.... Just don't understand where guys like you get off..

I thought for one minute that Willy had done a good OP. But then I realized it was a cut n paste. Stupid, stupid me.

But I agree with the author of the OP. Nationality is about control and taxation.

    I disagree.

Nationalism is a joke. People shouldn't make a big deal out of were they are from. It leads to bad politics. Nationalism lets the politicians get away with anything because the people want their country to look good on the surface.

I am not a nationalist. People here always think Im an American.

I abhor the politics and politicians. I shake my head in dismay at our ill thought out military disasters. I am shamed by how we are perceived throughout the world.

I wonder what happened to the country of my childhood.

I have been gone for forty years. But, for better or worse, in some way it will always be my country.
I think the above says it best for me. I've been to a lot of different places in the US and can't think of any place that has more diversity in people. I've also spent time in other parts of the world and glad to have gone. I do love Australia as it's been one of the best places for me to ever go. I have to respect their attitude of: "More than willing to help as long as you're willing to help yourself."

I'm not proud of the U.S. government or the PC fvuckwits that seem to have taken over but the people in any given area can be really nice and I'm glad that I came from there.

That's a bit of a myth I reckon. According to this list the US ranked 42nd in 2005 for Immigrants as a Percentage of Population:

Yes but the diversity is not so much current immigrants but the history of all the various nationalities who came to the "new world". Some voluntarily and some not.

On the whole America is a decent place with decent people. It's just a shame that their whack jobs and fruit loops are so vocal, where as the decent people are so quiet.

Nationalists & tribalists in general gather together in unruly herds, and produce some of the worst singing known to mankind. It truly is a disease. Nationalists worship their national anthem, but just about every national anthem I've heard is utter shite. Like with most things in life, you can blame the poms. Most country's national anthems sound like some second rate composer heard 'God save the Queen' and 'Land of Hope and Glory', and decided to push out a distinctly second rate version.

Lets not even get on to totemism & flag worship.

I now call Thailand my Home but i am am still sickend by the way England has been given to Europe on a plate and not even a shot fired.
My father must be spinning in his grave to think what they have done to his country, we have given it to the very people we have kept from our shores in hundreds of years without a fight .
At least when the Europeans came and conquered us on many occasions we put up a good fight.

A bit miscued and laregely vacant of knowledge....
The obvious blood-line and heritage diversity is quite appearant in both OZ and the U.S.

What you probably are considering is the social, political and civil infrastructral base that is born of English ways - and deeply in place as a way of life and instinct.

Religion sucks any way you go. I don't give a flying fuck what religion it is. It is only existing to control the masses. If you can't figure out what is RIGHT or WRONG, then you're an idiot.

Also an American, and I feel almost exactly the same about the US, except that having spent nearly 20 years outside the US and now finding myself more or less stuck there I realize how much I preferred the country of my birth as a tourist destination rather than as a place to live.
