There has been reports of mass random drug testing going down in many entertainment areas with up to 400 people being tested at any one time including foreigners here in Pattaya.

We all have probably been stopped at the many drink drive stations but I have never been asked to urinate in a little plastic jar when on foot and out and about in Thailand.

I was asked today by a doctor currently working on a new local product about whether I would object to being tested and more importantly would I consider it an invasion of my privacy.

I honestly said it would not worry me as I don't take drugs but advised this doctor he may have problems convincing others to do so.

Where better to ask this question than right here on Teakdoor.

What would you do if you were handed a surgical bag, asked to sign and open the bag, urinate in the container, close it and sign and date the outer label?

This is a typical test container currently being used in Australia.

Apparently the law here requires that you take the random test and if you refuse you can be detained and taken for a test at another more official location.

I wonder mind except for the fact that in the back of my mind I would assume it was just a reused empty cup and the copper is only doing it to collect tea money from me. Theres no way the cops would take this seriously and will only use it as a method to extort cash... just like breathtests for booze.

I've done D+A tests every time I go off shore, no problem for me.

I would be wary of doing a test for the BIB here as I have no trust in them.

I personaly know of 2 people who were so out of their nuts and pissed that they killed people whilst driving and were offered a 'clean reading' for 20k.

I'm sure the BIB can do it the other way round too.

The filled test unit will never leave your hand and the test results are clear being positive or negative within 2 minutes.

the club we were in was raided in phuket when i first moved here 4+ years ago. Everyone got piss tested. Didn't bother me but the look on the faces of quite a few of the people i was with was fucking hilarious.

as of the question about the tests, yep, as long as it was sealed before i had to do it, no problem, guess its going to become the norm before long.

I can't go into too many details but the numbers of units they are talking about per month means that they are serious about taking on the night entertainment driven drug craze and the social problems it is causing.

And I doubt it is going to be a simple on-the-spot settlement as they are calling in experts from overseas to assist in the setting up of this new war on drugs.

You need to come up with a two part system. One used on the spot for a check the other kept by the donor for future testing by an independent lab.

The process I believe will be.

1. Provide the on-the-spot sample and if positive and as test has proven to be 99.9% accurate..........................

2. Be taken to a second official hospital laboratory for a second test by an independent but official 3rd party.
