Why don't you live in your own country?

    mad_dog:

    in no particular order...

    1) weather: Cold, wet, dank , drizzle.... ...

    2) Scum factor: A gang of young men who beat a homeless man so badly in Truro city centre that he later died have received custodial sentences - the longest of which is 13 months" This was the first news story i read on returing to my hometown of about 10,000 people...

    3) Fat, stupid, ugly people: I hate scummy miserable plebs eating themselves to death and having to look at them doing it. I like countries with nice looking populations. A walk around my local Tescos fills me with a profound dread that I will turn into one of them (I think CMN wrote this once)

    4) Government: I don't want to pay 50% tax to fund global genocide and be preached at by scum bags like Blair and Straw

    5) Women: the decline in the standard of women has speeded in the 5 years since I left..... Finding a woman who weighed less than me (78 kgs) would be an event in itself.

I can't see myself living in Thailand forever but wild horses wouldn't drag me back to England for any length of time.

They champion falsehood, support the butcher against the victim, the oppressor against the innocent child. May God mete them the punishment they deserve

    1 Expensive Housing
    2 crime
    3 persecution of the motorist
4 rampant immigration of those with fuck all being given my taxes.
    5 redundancy.

Lots of folk joke about the number of jumpers in Patters but if it was the skydive or going back there I would go out with a bang

I hear you on this one. Visitors to the UK are best to stick to the city centres where they will only meet other tourists....Honestly, travel 25 miles out and it makes the Twilight Zone look like Little House on the Prairie.

Personally though the attraction of living somewhere else for me is that I enjoy being a stranger....People's expectations are so much lower when one is a stranger.

^ I agree. Which is extremely fortunate for me as I go pretty low on most peoples expectation scale. I just can't seem to stop myself from arguing with their pets when I go round for dinner.

Though I agree with much of the above and could add to reasons for living here, just shows how thoroughly unappreciative we are, with half the world trying to get into where we're delighted to get away from.

Close to the middle east so less fly time to go to work
no speed cameras or police that really give a toss atleast in the N/E
    Cheaper
Wife said she would live in Australia but I think it wouldnt last as she is to close to her mother in Thailand
I like the idea of a close nit family as they do in Thailand
    Lots of food for eye

    I like Tescos Food Courts.
Especially around noon when the the office girls come in for lunch... 'pant, pant'...

    Nothing like it in Farangland.

Now eat your spotted dick while watching the greasy-haired fatso pry her 17 kids into her car in the parking lot and be happy; Africans are starving.

I can't remember what it is like.

I left cause I was going a bit mad.

I probably could go back and live there if I had to but I still wouldn't talk to anybody.

I don't know why I don't live there. I'm scared more than anything. I get a feeling of dread when I read the tabloid newspapers. I have panic attacks when I realise that there isn't much chance of me going back there any way and it's too late.

I think I need to lie down now.
