    Thailands Soi Dogs

My girlfriend suggested this evening about building a proper tomb or gravestone for our dog who died a couple of weeks ago, now I got to admit I am all for this, sounds good to me, she also suggested digging him up and moving him to a differant part of the land, I am sorry but I aint digging him up, so there is a Thai who loves her dogs.

This dog used to live at the house where we are working in Ban Chang, the Thai family there had had him for a few years and he was a healthy little bugger, they left without him as they didn't want him, so now he is a street dog, as you can see in these pictures his health is deteriorating at a rapid pace, now I aint gonna take him in as I don't like small yappy dogs, I reckon he has about another 6 weeks to live and then he will die in the street, anybody want him?

Someone should find the owners and inject them with mange!

    Take him home DD.

It will be good for your Karma.

True RC but it's gonna take a long time for him to recover. My dog wasn't as bad as this poor dog but it took him a very long time to recover. He ain't having that con thingy around his neck but is still on steriods. He's almost 100% recovered after a year, if I'm not wrong.

A Thai family, opposite to me house, bought a cute little puppy for their children to have fun. She's now over a year old and sleeps in the street. They don't even bother giving her foodies. I can't adopt the dog as I already have three at home but I do feed her everyday. The missus and I recently gave her a shower as she was stinking. Probably the first shower since here birth.
After seeing such dogs on the street, I wonder how cold hearted these locals can be. For me it's impossible to treat any animal in such a way.

The missus and I have a plan to open some foundation, not in so near future, to accommodate some of the street dogs.

Macha, I think your dog had something other than mange or maybe a different variety.

We have had several soi dogs treated for it and they recover and have pretty much full hair growth in a month.

^ I'm not sure if it was a mange or not. What I know is that I treated him for red mange as per raycary and RC's (very thankful to both of them) suspicion. He's been under treatment for red mange. We've been using antibiotics, steroids and ivermectin.
Now as per vet's recommendation, we're only giving him steriods every second day.

^Sounds like more than mange to me. Maybe some other kind of skin disease.

I wonder if dogs get psoriasis?

I think you under-estimate the resilience of the Thai soi dog, DD...

That dog has months, if not years, in it...

Many worse wandering the streets around here and they are not dropping off at any great rate.

If you inject it with ivermectin, you can't eat the meat for 30 days, but at least it will get rid of all the internal parasites as well. If it's just mange it should be alright...obviously skin it first
