    Thailand/falang telemarketers.

These assholes just called me. A nice and sincere voice concerned about my well being here in Bangkok. The gentleman said he was based in Bangkok, had a work permit and was just trying to help me out.

He said my phone number came from the airport. What ever that means.

    Please pay attention people!

    I feel a tour coming...

    hehehehehe.

I get them (cold calls) a lot. They seem to get past my secretary by asking to speak to "William", which makes her think that it's a personal call.

If you have the patience, you can fool them into dropping by and buying lunch for you!

"Yeah - that sounds really like a really interesting investment opportunity. Actually, yes, I do happen to have a large amount of money on a low interest account - do you think it would be worth doing something else with that money?, etc, etc..."
Any error in tact, fact or spelling is purely due to transmissional errors...

Dunno, I got one company to help me set up an offshore bank account in the Channel Islands some years ago (over several lunches). Then told them I wasn't planning on doing any further business with them.

Nowadays, when they call, I just tell'em to fuck off.

Sorry guys, I was a little drunk last night and put this in the wrong thread. Probably better in the cap's lounge. Mods, can you help me out?

BTW, I am still going to play with this...

I'll have lunch with anyone who's paying for the beer. I think my name is now on some "Do not Call" list that they also share.

Would rather pay for my own meal, some of them farangs are desperate to close a deal.

In my iniquitous days I would seem interested in their proposition, but just before they ejaculate ask them to hold on while I answer the door, then return to hang up about ten minutes later.

Best activity for guys who call up selling stuff is to take the phone to the crapper and curl out a big terd with a few choice farts, Hold the handset real close to your exit hole for clarity.
    They love it!

Any calls i get like that, the first thing I do is ask them to tell me what they are wearing and to discribe what they look like.It gives you a sense of achievment to get them to hang up on you.

last time one called, I lectured him on the need to have a WP in LOS for that kind of deal. I bored him for 30 min, and he never called back. I was probably blacklisted from their contact database

I'd like to have supernatural powers that allowed me project a 10 second vision of Hell into every orifice of the person making the call. Where does the idea come from that it's okay to ring a person up out of the blue and to try to sell them something!?....If you are selling a car do you just pick numbers out of the telephone directory and make calls, 'Hi, you don't me and I don't know you - I just wondering if you were interested in buying a 10 year old Ford Focus; it's blue'
Back off Margaret, you're on a sugar rush!

I used to try different kinds of tactics on these telemarketers. The most useful and entertaining was my paranoid bit. "Who are you?" "How did you get my number?" "I'm onto you people" and so forth. When I couldn't be bothered I put the handset next to the TV while playing a porno. One guy didn't hang up for about 20 minutes (I think he popped one off)

For some reason, I don't get any telemarketers and I have a listed number. Shouldn't complain really.
I think they stopped after i told my wife that if she ever got one to just talk thai to them.
