I think it's only places like Scotland & Potterspury, a small village in Northampton, that get 'snowed in'. Never seen London or Manchester grind to a halt no matter how bad it gets. Only problems found in ciries are the accidents caused by cars & such.

She is very happy and wants to play.

    Never mind the snow.
I can remember when every autumn British Rail Southern would come to a standstill because of 'wet leaves on the track'
What a surprise, England has wet leaves in the autumn.

Some years back BR ground to a halt due to the 'wrong kind of leaves' on the track.

May be time to learn from countries like Sweden, where the snow's actually expected when it arrives, but the infrastructure is in place, everybody's prepared and life goes on, year in and year out.

The UK comes to a stand still when snow falls. Its not like we didnt know either as it was predicted four days ago. Its funny watching people who have no idea how to drive in it slide past my house and get dangerously close to other cars.

If the roads can't function why not just go with it and take the day off and relax, i wouldn't mind being snowed in for a few days.

Was never a problem when I was there, we just enjoyed it.

The press is a load of bol***ks whenever it reports anything at all!
Sensationalism rules in that petty game, everyone a wannabe, f**kall reality reported or any serious investigative journalism going on any more.

It's all a rig by market forces for selling "audiences" for consumerism!
Read/view Noam Chomsky on the issue.

No country has EVER "ground to a standstill" because of snow!

well most of Jakarta shut down due to the floods, and they happen every year also!

by shut down i mean 10% made it to work, a good percentage of home lost electricty, landline phones, mobile phones stopped working, ATM's malfunctioned, internet out, cable TV down, a mate couldnt even get a bank cheque to buy a new car.
