    What is hard work?

I see many people throw this term around as if it has some precise definition but nobody seems to know what it really means.

Does it mean doing physically hard work (like moving rocks all day)? Working 40 hours per week? Dealing with an asshat for a boss but otherwise liking your job?

    I dunno.
I'm fairly sure I don't do it though.

    Actually that's not strictly true
when i go down to the wife's village in petchabun and watch her 60 odd year old father planting and picking tobacco, a lonely figure in the field from dawn to dusk for a subsistance wage, I realise what hard work is.

To answer the OP and keep the thread on track I would say that anything which is more than I usually do during the day, is hard work.

Crab fishing in Alaska might qualify. Not low pay but it's certainly one of the most dangerous.

hard work can be best defined as one bringing physical and emotional pain. As we all know, it has nothing to do with rewards.

If you don't feel exhausted at the end of day, then it's not hard work.

hard work is when at the end of the day you are either physically or mentally stuffed and all you can think about is sleep.

hard work is probably servicing 10 punters in a day and still having the mental fortitude to tell the 11th he is a handsome man.

skill , is looking like you are working hard - producing the results that are expected - but in reality you are just cruising along.

I know that when I want to get paid double time - I just work half as hard.
If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.

fencing... Digging holes for , putting in and removing fencing posts is fucking hard yacker. I tried removing one for my elderly father but ended up on the floor puffing and weezing like and old geezer.... I went and got the fucking chain saw and cut it off a couple of inches of the ground.
