    Cool The betting thread

I'm into betting on sports and so thought I'd start a thread in here for anyone who feels they want to talk about any bets they've made.

Most of my betting is done on horse-racing but I also do the football (ie:soccer) and sometimes tennis.

My latest bet is the 0-0 draw in the Wales v. Leichenstein game tonight.

I got odds of 19/1 and put £3 on it - I think there's a realistic chance of a result on this one.

Anyway, this can be the gamblers anonymous thread

    Betfair

the odds on the draw are now 200/1 (Wales are 2-0 up)

It's a good betting site (betfair.com) - I got in-running odds of 27/1 for Tottenham to beat Chelsea when Spurs were 1-0 down and made £55 off a two pound bet.

Much better odds than any high street bookies.

    Result: Holland 1-1 England

    I wanted 2-0 to England

Had small win (£10) on the horses earlier so that makes up for the football.

i agree bet fair give the best odds and in play betting,

one of the best betting piece of advice sent to me has been

pick the in form team for the year i.e chelsea or man u
then place the right amount of money on them to win 20 per game and if they loose just double the bet the following game, but you must start this at the beggining of the season.
oh by the way it works.

in your other thread you mentioned cheltenham
i was at cheltenham last week and all the boys were on ruby, 4 winners in one day. and the biggest priced winner EXOTIC DANCER 20/1

^ yes , the big drawback to Thailand is the draconian gambling laws - thus I can only stay for 2 months at a time (lie) to partake in other unChristian activities (such as killing Muslims)

Breezer banned from gambling - you should be ashamed of yourself

    anyway with regards to betting

    Celtic 1 - 0 Manchester United

Celtic win (5/1 on Betfair) £5 stake - £25 profit tonight

yes that's not a bad system - I was going to do that on my football team (Coventry City) but never got round to it -

always backing Chelsea at very short odds must surely pay a profit at the end of the season.

anyway , sounds like you had a good day at Cheltenham

I went to Plumpton this weekend - had one winner and a correct exacta but also had a few losers - came out with a very small profit.

Did you see Detroit City win the other day meepho?

    Newcastle v. Celta Vigo tonight

    (on CH5)

I'll have a bet on this - probably go for Celta Vigo ( better odds and Newcastle are hardly high fliers at the moment)

just checked the odds - Vigo are 3.35 and Newcastle 2.56

not that great , I might wait till half time before having a bet

i did not see the race with detroit in it, only saw three races

did celtic at 5/1 in play on betfair for the win, after they scored united went out to 110/1 so i put the speculative 4 on, and that wanker saha missed the penalty, if he'd scored i'd of laid united for a nice couple of bob.

tonight i joined the newcastle game after 12 minutes and celta were 1/0
so backed newcastle and now they've scored so 1/1 newcastle are looking good so i won't lay them off just yet.

australia to win all 5 test matches is at decent odds, as they will win given the weather stays good. you can get 8/1

well, sounds like you had a good night on the football!

    I had £5 on Vigo - last time I looked (at 0 - 1 ) - Newcastle odds were about 8/1

    what price did you get?

not much joy on the horses for me as well today

got 8.5 which is 7 1/2 to 1 if i'd waited another 5 minutes they went out to 10/1, had just the £5 on so its a £37.50 profit with 2-1 victory to newcastle.

i've got bayern munich in the champions league, not because i like them they were just the best value bet. you got one for that.

i used to be into horses a few years back even went to the breeders cup in america.

had some big winners but then hit a bad run so i just bet on the occasional meetings now and not so much money.
gold cup [cheltenham] early next year will be the next outing

    wishing you good luck

muay thai betting is great fun, but the runner will not always give you the fighter you want, he will tell you wait and if his fighter looks good then he comes back to you and offers the bet, who can say thais are silly.
is gambling legal for these fights as it it done very openly.

i've seen firgters win when it definately looks like they lost and the crowd have booed and hissed at the results.

colourful-era i like what you are doing going for the value bets, much more fun,

the gamble of the weekend is australia v new zealand

nz with a ten point start even money, and do not forget on thier earlier meeting in the comp nz were winning 15-8 with 10 minutes to go, so i'll be having a fifty on that one.

bayern munich is not for one game i've gone them to win outright with silly odds of 30/1

after just 2 days of the test australia are now just 3/1 to win all five games, if they win the next match i'll lay them off for my original stake and hopefully have a free gamble.

    best of luck
    meepho

came out of the bookies today with the grand profit of 1

had about 3 winners but a few losers too

1-0 to Wolves at half time but I can't really see Sunderland scoring twice now

1-1 now - come on Sunderland! (5 mins to go)

1-1 Full Time - always worth a bet (the HT/FT) I reckon - such long odds

I'm moving away from Bristol next month - won't be coming back here (ie: Bristol) but I do have quite a few old mates in Bath so sometimes turn up there from time to time.
