Kiws thrash Poms in Rugby League

    New Zealand 34-4 Great Britain

New Zealand celebrate Manu Vatuvei's second-half try

    New Zealand: (16) 34
Tries: Vagana, Webb 2, N Cayless, Vautuvei, Wiki
    Goals: Jones 5

    Great Britain: (4) 4
    Tries: Ellis

Great Britain's hopes of reaching the Tri-Nations final suffered a major blow as they were totally outplayed by a dominant New Zealand in Wellington.
Stacey Jones gave a masterclass at scrum-half, while his forwards' display provided the platform for the Kiwis' record winning margin over the Lions.
Nigel Vagana and Brent Webb (2) put the Kiwis 16-4 up at half-time, with Gareth Ellis scoring Britain's only points.
And the Kiwis added three more tries after the break as the Lions crumbled.

Popular history has it that the Wright Brothers at Kitty Hawk [in the United States] were the first to fly [a heavier-than-air craft], but this is not true! The first flight was by a twenty-five year old New Zealander, Richard Pearse on March 31, 1902. Pearse, (1877 - 1953), is not generally known for this wonderful feat as [until recently?] there has been very little publicity about it. In fact the first formal mention of his achievement was some seven years later in the newspapers of 1909.

His statue has always been the main feature at the Timaru airport so it's not 'new' news in that area...fokin yanks gotta be 'first' at everything...I mean ask your average seppo about origin of the Statue of Liberty...great story for the francophiles...
