    The Ryder Cup

The next Ryder Cup takes place at the K Club commencing next week.

    The Teams:-

    Europe

    Luke Donald
    Paul Casey
    Colin Mongomerie
    David Howell
    Sergio Garcia
    Padraig Harrington
    Robert Karlsson
    Paul McGinley
    Jose Maria Olazebel
    Henrik Stenson
    Darren Clarke *
    Lee Westwood *

    USA
    Tiger Woods
    Phil Mickelson
    Jim Furyk
    Chad Campbell
    David Toms
    Chris Demarco
    Vaughan Taylor
    JJ Henry
    Zach Johnson
    Brett Wellerick
    Stewart Cink *
    Scott Verplank *

    * = Captains picks

Captains: Ian Woosnam (Europe) - Tom Lehman (USA)

So are Europe going to inflict the 3rd defeat in a row on the 'old enemy', I would like to think so. Hasn't gone too well for 2 of the Americans in the team as they were dumped out of the World Matchplay at Wentworth today at the first round stage.

So you golfing fans, what do you think of the teams and the possible outcome, what would be your pairings for the foursomes and fourballs?

Europe always seem to do better on the fourball etc and the Yanks always come back on the singles. I would hope that Europe win 15 - 13.

Just hope there are none of them stupid Spectators that shout ' In the Hole' just after an American drives off at a 450 yard tee shot. Really pisses me off!!!!

I've resigned myself to the Euros winning this most nearly every time. No matter the match up it seems they understand team play better than the spoiled rich golfers from the USA who always seem to faulter.

No sport personifies the me, me, me attitude of seppos more than this. And the "singles" sure ain' gonna win it all.

    Opening fourballs:-

Montgomerie and Harrington v Woods and Furyk
Casey and Karlsson v Cink and Henry
Garcia and Olazabel v Toms and Wellerick
Westwood and Clarke v Mickelson and Di Marco

Lets hope that Europe goes 3 - 1 up in these. Personally I would have like to see Donald and Howell in these opening matches.

Make sure that you wear a Teak Door logo so that we will recognise you, or shall we just look for a cat with headphones.

So the Europeans have a slight advantage going into the 2nd day 5 - 3 up. Matches looked close with many ending on the 18th green. Hope that it will be 10 -6 to the Europans by the evening.

    Europe clinch Ryder Cup hat-trick
Europe take the Ryder Cup for a record third consecutive time with an 18½-9½ victory over the USA at the K Club.

Enjoy it while it lasts Marmite ... what goes around comes around as they say.

The NFC dominated the SB for years and now the AFC is getting some back.

I predict my arrival in Thailand will signal a changing of the guard with the next match.

Fuck me we suck. World champions in what!! Baseball, not anymore, Basketball, not anymore, Football, never, Boxing, not anymore, Tennis, not any more.

Yup Tiger is number one in the world and miles above anyone else. But not when you put him on a team.

My heartiest congratulations to a true team. The European Ryder cup champs. And a bigger high five to Woosie, for having the balls to make the selections he did.

    Well done Europel

There ya go, plus he could bring his guitar and hold sing alongs of country and western favorites and drive the Europeans nuts. John Daly a hero in my mind.

Tiger Woods the # 1 player in the world carried his share of the load for the US.

No suprise that Mickelson wore panties instead of a jock for all his matches.
