    NFL 2006

Do we have enough seppos posting here to cuss n' discuss the weekly results of the upcoming season ? Of course all Aussies and Kiwis are invited as well.

I'm willing to post the weekly schedule and then we can make picks ... and talk shit about other peoples teams.

I'm gonna root for two teams this year:

    AFC: Cincinnati Bengals
    NFC: Seattle Seahawks

    How about you AO ? You're a 49er fan , right ?

I used to have a Niners Season Ticket when I lived in that part of the world.... sadly it find it too much effort to keep in touch these days, I like to watch 'Live' and the timings here don't allow that. I haven't followed the player movements this summer, doubtless we'll be struggling again?

We had a pretty good thread going last year that was started by AO over on the otter forum. It went over 500 responses if I'm not mistaken.

I know what you're saying though Bobcock ... it's easy to lose touch when you're overseas. Threads like this help to keep a little interest going.

I'd much rather have a thread on NCCA football ... but there isn't much interest in that even from the few who follow the NFL.

I think this is one reason I admire the Aussies and Brits ... they love their football, rugby, cricket no matter what corner of the world they slink off to.

    Cheers.

I used to go to Wembly to watch the London Monarchs. Does that count?

The Eagles are my team. Everyone has written them off, but a healthy Donovan is one of the top five quarterbacks in the league. And they significantly upgraded their weakest point, the defensive line, with Howard and Bunkley. The front line should create some pressure and allow the defense to be one of the best in the league again. As for the offense, who is Hank Baskett? Why can this guy catch everything that is thrown at him? Is it just a pre-season illusion? They just traded for Stallworth from NO, but like Gaffney, he'll struggle to pick up the West Coast offense. If Westbrook goes down, the running game is done, although Buckhalter has looked impressive. But he has had two knee surgeries the past two years, so you can't rely on him.

Carson Palmer and Bengals looked pretty damn good in the first half today against the Packers.

Do any channels in Bangkok carry NFL games? Is there anyway to listen to an audio feed or internet feed? Noooo! I am going to miss the Eagles opener.

If I can't watch any NFL or NCAAF games in Thailand that is going to significantly affect my quality of life.

This really sucks ... I studied up hard for the NFL and NCAAF season this year. Reading up on returning players, defensive schemes, coaching backgrounds ... I should go register a new nick on ajarn ... but ya'll be knowin' I'm too fuggin' stubborn to do that already.

There is one good thing over here in Japan since I don't live on base and get the AFN network ... I don't have to listen to all those "Be, all that you can be ... in the Army" propoganda commercials

they show NFL in Thailand on one of the UBC channels, I think it's on star sports but i'm not sure.
one of those channels between 35 and 40.

I'd like to cast my vote for seattle.

My second favorite team ... but did you know that no Super Bowl runner-up has even made it to the post season the next year for the past 5-7 years ?

The loss of guard Hutchinson is going to cost Alexander at least 250 yards this year rushing.

American football is on UBC channels 36 and 39 -- ESPN and Supersports (I think). ESPN games broadcast on Monday on ESPN (Sunday night game in the U.S., John Madden and Al Michaels) and Tuesday (Monday night football) at 8 a.m. and then they're repeated at some time I don't know.

Supersports broadasts lives in the middle of the night and then repeats throughout the week -- two games, I think.

I'm a Patriots fan...And a Bill Parcell hater. Look for Dallas to flounder this year. I don't expect much from the Patriots, though. The problem with the NFL is free agency -- it's almost impossible to keep a franchise going strong.

Watermain hit the nail on the head. Basically NFL TV coverage sucks in Thailand. One can either get up at 0600 to watch (one foking game of whoever) or wait until the afternoon or evening when the same game is broadcasted.

MtD, actually had the honest answer. Superbowl. I have always been sick on this day, but drinking beer at 0630 and eating Nachos is not quite what I want. BUT, I DO!

Now, if you like to watch soccer...*runs to toilet*

Man ... it's looking like the Seahawks and Bengals are the two best teams in the NFL right now.

AO ... using that wkrp moniker you best not have picked the Steelers over the Bengals.

They missed their window of opportunity and will have to re-build Hillbilly.

Hopefully their new coach will get things going. Did you know he is the least successful of all the black head coaches ? If it weren't for his connections he never would have got hired by KC with the terrible record he had up in NYJ country.

Great running back ya'll be having though.

Yes, but the Atlanta Falcon's 46-year-old placekicker won the game for them in overtime yesterday -- woo-hoo!

Kudos from the press; however, with the Steeler's QB injured along with others not playing yesterday, the Falcons shouldn't have allowed a tie in the first place. That's what you get when you place the world champions -- even the second string is tough.

That being said, the Falcons new owner has a chance of rebuilding an Atlanta franchise -- those previous owners (Rankin Smith and his dysfunctional sons) were driving the team into the ground.
