    It's Just Not Cricket

According to this BBC report umpires stop play between England and Pakistan and suprise suprise it is not because of the weather.
Docked 5 runs for ball tampering by the umpires the Pakistani team refused to enter the pitch after tea at which point the umpires decided to take their bails and go home.
When the Pakistan team finally came onto the pitch there was nobody there to play against.

Offivcials state they are not hopeful of play resuming.

Geez I remember those days when there was sport.

Isn't that why they wear those big, baggy clothes off the pitch?

So they can 'tamper" with their "balls"?

Can't keep their bloody hands off it!

It's a shame really, but that umpire either has it in for the Pakis or he's the only one to stand up against their cheating ways - I don't know which is the truth.

I won't affect the series, so it'll all blow over soon I would've thought.

So it seems, Inzie beat Daryl to the smorgasboard at lunch time and took the last of the prawns....Daryl 'got his nose out of joint' and decided to 'get his own back' during the match with a ball tampering charge.
It is an unsung rule within the cricket community, ...you let Daryl get to the prawns BEFORE yourself, otherwise, ..you're gone after lunch!!..

Thank goodness an Englishman would never stoop so low.......I know, I know....

The BBC commentators' view seemed to be that the rule is stupid in that it penalises a team without giving them a chance to appeal during the game....This is the first time the rule, in this form, has been imposed I believe. This and the fact of the history with the umpire responsible no doubt created the problem. When I watched the Pakistan team did come out, albeit late; however, by that time the umpires had already changed into their party dresses and were off out.

    Te row rumbles on.
Will the one-day series go ahead?

    Inzaman-ul-Haq
"When you compare winning a game of cricket with letting down your country, it is a very small thing. Respect is more important."

Nasser Hussain in the Daily Mail

“To Pakistan, if they had carried on playing, they would have been admitting their guilt. “

    Dickie Bird ex-umpire
“I think they should have finished the Test match. Pakistan have been badly hurt (by the accusations) but the people who have to suffer are the fans. I would have tried to keep it going for the sake of public; they have paid the money. After the match you all get round the table and thrash this out. “

Sydney's Daily Telegraph newspaper, meanwhile, dubbed Hair "the bravest man in cricket" and former international umpire Lou Rowan said Inzamam should be kicked out of international cricket for 12 months for "showing contempt for the rules of the game."

Jonathan AgnewThe news that Inzamam-ul-Haq has been charged with ball tampering and bringing the game into disrepute is the most serious development in this saga.
It is one that could still threaten the future of the tour and Shaharyar Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board and a senior diplomat, will need to use all his experience.

well - i hate to generalize, however, in my experiences playing cricket against many gentlemen of Pakistani and/or indian backgrounds, they nearly all, to a man,

CHEAT LIKE FCUKS AND CARRY ON LIKE BABIES!

this doesn't surprise me at all.

tho i do think there should perhaps be a warning on this rule but to through the game over 5 runs .....

    bloody sooks!

    Pakistan is an Islamic state with its capital at Islamabad. 97% population is of fundamental Muslims;
the rest is made up of 2% Christians and 1% of Buddhists, Hindus

But their cricket team is full of christians and Hindus. Show me I some prove of this maybe it,s true but sounds a bit much considering that christians or buddhists or hindus cant hold any position of power in the country

Captain Inzamam-ul-Haq issued a stark warning to cricket chiefs yesterday: Clear me of ball tampering or the tour of England is finished.

If accurate this affair could go on and on and have lasting damage to the game.
The Pakistanis are already stating they will not play in matches officiated by Hair.

Personally I think it would be hard to prove the ball tampering now. Inzaman is being charged as captain and therefore responsible for the behaviour of the entire tem not because he was seen tampering. It also suggestts that Hair has no idea when it was done and by whom.

however Inzaman is aslo being charged with bringing the game into disrepute in theory a more erious charge and for me easier to prove.
Ask the crowd who waited nearly 2 hours to be told what the heck was going on.

Ever heard of playing a match under protest and sorting it out ater.

Do all sportsmen lose brain cells as they become world class.
How did he think it wouldnt bring he game into disrepute and how did he think his actions would bring Pakistan what he wanted.?

THe ICC have to stand behind thier umpires imo otherwise there is no game and this will happen every time something goes against a team.

If Hair is considerd a bad umpire (76 tests) then drop when possible.
If it is just a case that he is a twat then sorry guys get used to him not everyone is a nice cuddly warm chappie like me

I dont give a flying fuck about that louzy and Pathetic game. What do you expect of a game that can be fixed before the game starts??No sportsmanship,No fokin stamina required, hell did you guys ever notice Ranatunga's (ex-Sri Lankan captain) belly.

Boxing,Squash,Swimming,Long Tennis, snooker are the ones I prefer and respect the players.Whats so special about cricket??Just a silly game.

Anyways tell me something how many world records Pakistani players have??

Highest score in one day innings.

    Fastest half century.

    Fastest century.

Highest wickets in one day ininngs.

    World's fastest bowler.

How many all rounders are in the team??Who introduced the concept of reverse swing??

Hell they couldn't prove the ball was tempered.

Looks as if the ICC has botled it by postponing the hearing on Inzaman
due to the adjudicator being unavailable for "personal reasons"
This means that the 1 day series wil lgo ahead the English & Welsh Board will get their revenue and Pakistan wont have to back down on refusing to play the I dayers if Inzaman is found guilty of ball tampering.

Personally I felt he was more likely to be found guilrty of the second charge " bringing the game into disrepute".

No doubt the hearing will now take place when Pakistan are due a lengthy break from cricket and punishment if any will be during that time.

I can also see Hair taking early retirement from umpiring. Both Sri Lanka and Pakistan are reported stating that they wil not play in matches offciated by him.

You can not have the countries selecting the umpires. Dont like the guy fine but get on with it. The players are supposed to be professionals.
Why do certain teams/players always see conspiracies.
