It seems to be a huge event, huh? I've been watching news about it for a week, not far from where I live though.

sorry MID but its all about soul.. the growl of V8 hauling arse up that mountain, nothing compares,,err sorry there is another, a nice big chunkey V TWIN doing its thing works too
Wasn't aware till recently that Mt Panorama is an open road rest of the year; my friend from Lismore took his old Corolla for a drive round the track. Must be well policed/speed cameras though? he didn't say.
Also - what time (Thailand) will it start, always get confused I presume NSW has daylight saving in force right now? Thanks
1030am Eastern Standard Time which is one hour faster than normal (so 6.30am Bangkok time). The 500 (161 laps) should be finished by 5.45pm (1.45pm BKK time).
*edit Eastern Summer Time they seem to call it now

Quite funny watching australian commercials for the first time in ages.
Dried up nicely. Good to see the slicks back on.
That was pretty impressive, incredible to see the factory car actually beat the older race car I've been telling people that for years that many of today's street cars could easily outperform recent past race cars even in stock trim..
People always argue the point but there's some proof, though I know it was a staggered start it was nearly level in separation in the end..
It must also be considered that from a drivers point of view even with a basic safety cage in the stock auto it's not going to be as comprehensive as the race cars and all top professional drivers gain a real sense of security from that which equates to confidence and faster driving, without that it is certain he was not completely confident enough to really thrash it..
But what a difference in closing speed on the straight with the newer Commodore over the older one, like he was anchored ..
That vid with the roll over on the guard rail is terrifying!! The first roll you see his helmet virtually right in line with the railing but it looks like it hit just behind his head but within inches...That railing just slices and dices that car right down the center like a Ginsu knife where the driver is seated...Amazing he survived I would like to know the extent of his injuries, anyone know?
