    Glad someone mentioned the Tour.

    That was some exciting shit.
The result pretty much in doubt right up to paris.
Lead changed hands lots of times, far more fun to watch than during the Indurain and Armstrong years.
Landis did remarkably well to come back after losing 10 minutes in the pyrenese (sp).

I don't root for Americans because of my citizenship - unless it come to the Tour De France.

After all of the French false media stories, and which hunt of Lance Armstrong, I am glad that another American won it.

    Ain't it great.

The French aren't worth sh*t. When was the last time you heard anything good come out of France?

I'm glad they joined in with the rest of the world for a change and won something.

The base ball "world series" cracks me up. They only play amongst themselves. It's the same with motor sport. are they are too scared to have another country beat them?

I thought whenever a Limey went to race in the US they cleaned up?

    Nigel Mansell springs to mind.

You won't find many top quality American race car drivers at Indy. There was a falling out between car owners and the owners of the track years ago. Indy track owners formed a new racing series called Indy Racing League (IRL). The majority of the car owners (and the best drivers) stayed with the Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) racing circuit rather than joining IRL. CART and IRL have been poorly managed racing series. Nowadays it's all NASCAR all the time.

NASCAR is where the money is at so the talent follows. I used to look forward to the Indy 500. There was the unveiling of new cars and new technology to give cars the edge. Anyone remember these? They raced for a few years.

    Attaboy

    (semi justified insult removed)

the car in the top picture (that you label Indy car) is the Elf Tyrell Ford P34 FORMULA ONE car driven by the Frenchman Patrick Depallier and the South African Jody Sheckter. Won the swedish Grand Prix, but was dropped after one year, something to do with the tyre manufacturers not wanting to spend the money on developing the smaller tyres.

The lower picture is a test car for March 2-4-0 FORMULA ONE car, designed by Robin Herd, that never raced, but did appear in practice at the 1977 Brazilian Grand Prix..

I'd imagine that is annoying to be exposed as not knowing what you are talking about?

Real cars? You mean ones that just get into top gear and go round and round for hours?

Do they actually have brakes? Maybe drums to slow down for the pits....

You ever seen touring cars? Way more exciting than watching Nascars pottering around an oval all day.

Aussies and Brits are cleaning up in Indy and AMA motor bikes although that woman Dana Patrick in Nascar seems to keep the seppos hopes alive, all that practise in the malls and mac donalds drive through.
