    F1 Surely not a sport?

For the life of me I do not understand the attraction of FI.
I will watch almost any sport but find F! to be boring and predictable.
It seems to be along time since it was guys in cars racing each other. now it is a tech event where the real race apears to be over how fast petrol can be poured into the car or whether the engineers can ensure that the car stays in one piece for an hour or so or the driver doesn't start thinking about his dinner that night and crashes the car
And how many sports do you see fill up a days TV with the pxactice sesion?
    WTF is that all about.

This from the BBC website regarding Montoyas decision to quit F1 at the end of the season.

"It is easy to forget that until Montoya's arrival in the sport in 2001, overtaking in modern F1 was considered so difficult as to be almost impossible.

    That is still the case,"

I can just imagine the reaction if there was no overtaking in horseracing or track and field..
Yet F1 draws millions to the race irtself and to the TV coverage. why?

Can someone out there explain to me the attraction of this sport.?I am wiling to be converted

    I love motor racing.
I used to work at it and spent 2 years in F1
I worked for three world champions

But F1 is not motor racing it's money racing
Formula Ford and F3 is where the real racing happens.

As for TV coverage , well I haven't watch a race for many years , it is so boring to watch. It's a sport you have to be involved in.

I used to attend a race every year, and the nearest to me was half way around the world as I lived in NZ. Now I can hardly be bothered to watch it on TV. I have had some wonderful memories of F1 races 15+ years ago but now I agree, its just money racing. Thanks to Bernie ya short arsed CVNT. I got thrown out the pits by Bernie 30 years ago at kyalami, thought he was a Cvnt then when he was running Brabam and thats the way he turned out. He is, he has fvcked what was a sport, now is a farce.

We ran DC Cook as a works driver

Ran Damon Hill in F3 with Cellnet

    Ran Ross Cheever in F2

Then I worked freelance with Brabhams when Nelson Piquet won the crown

One of the guys I used to race Formula Ford / Atlantic was NP's race enginner about that time, Don Halliday. Many years ago he switched to Indy racing.

Shit it is a small world.
Don, one of the nicest guys you could ever meet, was aerodynamic engineer for NP.
He left to go and work for Mario Andretti
He was a close friend of my cousin
