    Max Mosley Is a Knob!

There's simply no limit to this fuck-heads stupidity. F1 has been suffering from poor management for the longest time IMO, this kunt is just making it worse. Don't know why it upsets me so much, maybe because i love the sport and have been watching it die a sloooooooow death

Max: Late entrants may find there's no space left

    Monday 18th May 2009

Max Mosley has warned the existing F1 teams that if they are late registering for next year's Championship they may found themselves without a place on the grid.

Any team wishing to take part in next year's Championship needs to submit their entry by May 29th, but given the on-going political crisis in Formula One, Mosley reckons some teams may hold back. And if they do, he's warned, they may find it too late.

"I think that we will probably get anywhere between three and six teams by the deadline, depending," Mosley told Autosport. "After that they become a late entry and if there is a space they can take it, and if there isn't space they cannot."

At present the teams, led by Ferrari, are fighting Mosley over his planned 2010 regulations, which will see the introduction of a budget cap and various technical freedoms being granted to those teams signing up. The existing teams, though, fear this could result in a two-tier Championship.

Already Ferrari have approached a French court asking for an injunction against the regulations but it remains to be seen whether this will be a step towards resolving the situation or compounding it. But given that time is a major factor in any decisions regarding 2010, Mosley believes an answer will emerge sooner rather than later.

"I'm not sure it will drag on that long, because if you put yourself in their position - they have to make up their minds what they want to do," the FIA President said.

"If they want to continue racing in F1, then they can come and talk. And if they want to go and do something else, then they have got to start making a car.

"If teams don't enter the F1 World Championship, they are going to have to decide pretty quickly what they do - start their own series, race in some other series or pack it in.

"And if they pack it in, they have got an even bigger problem than if they operate under a cost cap, as far as the personnel are concerned. It is not completely obvious what they would do.

"There is a good chance that when people sit and think about it, common sense will prevail because what is wrong with everybody being limited by the same amount of money, and the performance being limited by the cleverness of the engineers? It is very appealing to a lot of people that - and it is fair.

"And you could argue that if one team has got ten times as much money as another, then it is just the same as having a bigger engine. It is actually not very fair."

As for talk of a breakaway series, Mosley has made it clear that the FIA do not have any problems with that - although those breaking away might.

"Absolutely. We would have to do that, and we would do that. And if they did a breakaway, they could write their own rules and we would check them over for safety. And that would be it," he said.

"Then, they would go off and negotiate with promoters and television companies, who would no doubt charge them a great deal of money as they would be there for marketing purposes.

"And rumour has it, when they went to negotiate with the promoters they would find Bernie on the other side of the table! I don't know if there is anything in that, but it is just a suggestion..."

Look at A1GP, eminently forgettable, more boring than table tennis or badminton.

so why would I want to look at it?

better think of a smiley quick.....

anyway, yes A1 is tedious as it has no personality, the concept of "country above all" is outdated and the glamour is sadly missing

as for F1, Mosley has some weird ideas, besides his private life. I am not sure where he gets them from but the teams are what makes F1, not him

I am sure he will back down if Ferrari and McLaren are serious

    Back to Basics - OK?
All sorts of cars race everywhere.
Most within specific regulations that ensure every entrant has an equal chance .
    But
Formula 1 is supposed to be for the finest , fastest motor cars in the world and yet it is not allowed to be !

Now there is a vertically challenged ex car dealer and a person of dubious heritage and perversions, who dictate and control every aspect of the sport !!!

    WTF !
If you want the best and fastest just build it - tyres- engine size - weight of car - fuel you run on etc etc
    Have a go !
If it turns pearshaped - so be it - if you win then you have achieved something worthy of winning !

Bring back Brooklands with 11 litre chain drive buggers running on avgas !

There would be too many dead people, if they were unfettered

most rules are good though, and the manufacturers manage to outwit most of the rules with better technology. This makes the sport interesting technically

some rules that are proposed are crap, and get thrown out quickly, hopefully before the season starts

    exactly.

and Mosley is a ego manic. I saw an interview where he was asked what happens if Ferrari and others leave as they have been threatening....

his reply was 'well Lotus used to race and then left'

    here's the quote.

Mosley shrugs off threat by Ferrari to pull out of crisis-hit F-1

Reuters Published: Saturday, May 16, 2009

    Story tools presented by

Formula One plunged deeper into crisis yesterday with Ferrari taking legal action in France to try to prevent the governing body from pressing ahead with plans for a budget cap in 2010. FIA president Max Mosley, taking a hardline stance, told reporters after a two-hour meeting with the teams at a Heathrow airport hotel that there had been no compromise on the controversial regulations. Defending champion Ferrari, the sport's most successful and glamorous team, has said it will bring down the curtain on 60 years of involvement in Formula One if the published rules are not re-written.

Mosley doubted they would quit, but said the sport would survive if they did, drawing a parallel with the 1994 death of three-time driving champion Ayrton Senna. "The idea that they are indispensable is nonsense," said the Briton. "It's a little bit like poor Senna. He was the most important driver in 1994 but when he very sadly got killed, Formula One went on. Lotus were very important once, so were Brabham."

the sport should be allowed to progress according to technology IMO. restricting or capping it is just pointless.
KW he absolutely is an ego maniac.....they should restrict him

I don't think the sponsors are going to like a dispute between the teams and Mosely, there are plenty of other sports to throw money at.

Exactly... F1 is the pinnacle of auto racing... Why allow one man of dubious reputability put hundreds of millions of $$$ at risk and the stability of F1 because of budget caps... I say pop a cap in his ass and blame it in Bernie...

yup, well it will go to the next step now Ferrari's appeal against budget cap dismissed - Planet-F1 News - from planet-f1.com

this sport has played a major role in contributing to technology that we all use in road cars
    ECU
    Disc brakes
    Traction control
    Direct shift tranny
    Fuel injection
    Loads of aerodynamics
    Paddle shifting

just to name a few....gone are those days now that this jack-ass decision has been made.
will be interesting to see the outcome

I would imagine it will go the same way as the dwarfs suggestion that only first places would count towards the championship
