Oz In S/F of World Snooker Championships 2009

Watching it live on BBC now. Neil Robertson from Australia and the best ever player to come from down under, forget Eddie 'steady' Charlton! He's playing Sean Murphy; yes, an Englishman called Murphy, and just lost the first frame....don't fret, as it's the best of 33. Young bloke Robertson, fantastic potter and not a bad safety game either. Got a feeling he'll be done by Murphy though, who's just too cool and focused.
Other semi sees Higgins blowing away a young Belfast boy named Allen, 6-2 so far.
Love being back in blighty for this, big time footie matches, spring sunshine and real ale.

    cheers.

Can't stand Robertson. He's so typically Aussie, just the same as the classless hordes who louse up phuket every year. Loud, brash and brainless, with terrible fashion sense to boot.

The over exuberant way he celebrated winning a few frames against Carter was just embarrassing - contrast that with Carter's understated, classy pisstake a few frames later.

Are ALL Aussie sportsman such tiresome, precocious children? And he's ginger...

^Didn't see that incident but it looks as though justice is going to be served as Murphy's 14-10 up now (first to 17).
The other semi has really got interesting. Painful to watch early on as Allen crumbled and went 15-6 down. When play resumed today Allen's won the first 5 frames to close up to 15-11 and it's twitchy, squeaky bum time for Higgins...Allen looks fearless.

Couldn't have been as bad as they way Peter Ebdon used to celebrate.

Yes and no. Ebbo used to go nuts once he had won, which is not something I have a problem with. Robertson was going nuts after every frame, which is just attention seeking.

What next? Wailing like a banshee after each pot? Whooping after an attacking safety? Whoo-hooing a roll up?

Ebdon's celebrationary outbursts were cringeworthy, seems to have cut that out these days; must have mellowed. Anyway, pleased to say Murphy knocked off the last 3 frames last night to reach the final against Higgins, but not before Robertson won 7 in a row. From 14-7 down he squared the game up at 14 all. If there hadn't been a tea interval then I think he (Robertson) would have won it. As it happened, the 20 minute break sorted out Murphy's head and he polished it off rather easily.
