Aussie girls are fit. We used to go to Koh San Road to pull the backpacking hunnies. They needed a shower but they were up for anything.

MATTHEW Hayden has been attacked by a dog and Stuart MacGill suspended for misconduct in bizarre setbacks to Australia's Ashes preparation.

Hayden was attacked while out jogging on Friday during a visit to his parents property at Kingaroy.

Queensland Cricket coach Terry Oliver confirmed Hayden had received a gash in his leg where the dog attacked him. Tests have reveals there is no tendon or ligament damage.

Oliver said Hayden would have needed a couple of weeks to recover from the injury but will spend that time on the sidelines anyway after breaking a finger taking a catch in last weekend's Pura Cup match against Tasmania.

"He is not considered in doubt for the first Test (against England in Brisbane on November 23),'' Oliver said.

The injury however may disrupt Hayden's training schedule as it is likely to limit his mobility.

Meanwhile, Test leg-spinner MacGill has been suspended from the NSW team until November 2 after a run-in with an umpire in club cricket. That leaves MacGill sidelined from Wednesday's day-night one-day match against Queensland at the Gabba and the Pura Cup game against the Bulls which starts on Friday.

The fiery leg-spinner pleaded guilty to a charge of disorderly and improper conduct but has appealed against the severity of the sentence. A Cricket NSW spokesman said the appeal is expected to be heard Sunday.

The Blues players leave for Brisbane on Tuesday. If the appeal is upheld, MacGill could still fly to Brisbane for the day-nighter on Wednesday. He is desperate to press his claims for an Ashes call-up, believing the Australians erred by not playing two spinners against England in several Tests on last year's tour.

Cricket NSW have yet to officially announce MacGill's suspension and his manager Leo Karis said last night that he was unaware of the situation. MacGill, who has been batt allegedly swore at an umpire while playing for Sydney University against Campbelltown-Camden at University Oval last Saturday.

His Sydney University team was forced to bat a man short yesterday chasing 340 to win _ they reached the target for the loss of seven wickets. The flare-up occurred as MacGill took six wickets on the first day of Sydney University's match against Campbelltown-Camden last weekend.

Neither umpire, Terry Keel nor Bill Hendricks, would comment on the MacGill incident after play yesterday. MacGill looms as a key player in this summer's Ashes campaign, with the possibility he could join forces with Shane Warne in a dual leg-spin attack. He took a career best 8-108 against
Bangladesh in the first Test in April. He took his total Test wickets to 198 on that tour and is poised to become just the 13th Australian to pass the 200 milestone. MacGill has played just 40 Tests to achieve his mark and would trail legends Clarrie Grimmett (36) and Dennis Lillee (38) and Pakistan's Waqar Younis (38) to achieve the mark in fewest Test matches.
News is what someone, somewhere is trying to suppress - everything else is just advertising.

^ to be honest i'm not sure either.... perhaps MacGills attitude is like that of a port power fan...?

anyway - he has received the raw end of the stick being born in the same decade as Shane Warne - forever in his shadow - but a dual leg=spin attack - interesting. would be a gamble i would think.

at the end it always comes back to your fast bowlers!
