So, Anybody Found An English Commentary On The Net Yet?

Well? Anybody Found An English Commentary On The Net Yet?

Every link I've tried has failed.

All the "knowledgeable" bastards at Thaivisa have come up with zilch, nada, nowt, nothing, zip, naught, nil....

Poxy servers - I think most Thai restaurants will oblige with one or two of them, but I would have thought they'd have spoken Thai - then, again maybe he's talking about Tim Henman, who could certainly do some English commentary, although I doubt he would offer much inciteful analysis.

No. You can leave it on the coat rack. It's a nice day today. Shut the door on your way out though.

Oh, I can get to the page.
it takes you to the 5 live home page via a proxy link.

I spend at least 90% of my time listening to radio 5 live, but it won't let you listen to live sporting events, if you are outside the UK.

I tried the Ghost Proxy link and the UK version of the stream won't play.

    rtsp://rmlivev8acl.bbc.net.uk/farm/*/ev7/live24/radio5/live/r5_tl_g2.ra

The international version does, but that doesn't help me when I want to listen to the England v Aus rugby later today.

Don't click on CMN's quoted link! It's got three dots in it. Click on 12Call's original link.

Anyway, the commentary is crap for two reasons:

    1. They don't talk about what's happening on the pitch except if there's a shot on goal or corner and they love to hear the sound of their own voices.

    2. There is a 20 to 30 second delay, meaning that by the time the commentator has said what happened, the play has moved on to the other end of the pitch. Effing useless!

What you need is synchronised commentary and video, and the only way you can get that is by a feed of both sound and vision.

Effing money-grabbing bastards. Wasn't so long ago it was free, so was Test Cricket, World Boxing Championship fights, etc.

Bastards like Barry Hearn, Don King, Bernie Eccleston and other so called "promoters" are laughing all the way to the bank.

The original link is the same as the link I quoted, they've both got 3 dots in them.

    I like their commentary.

I don't have TV at home, so no worries.

12Call's link is REAL. It has three dots in it just to make it look OK. But underneath, it's real, it works.

But in your quote of 12Call's link, the link is NOT real. It has three dots in it, so bits of it are missing. It won't work. You will get a File Not Found or Web Page Not Found error.

And that is what I was telling GoW.

The link worked, but it wouldn't allow me to use the UK version of the audio stream.

I managed to rig my TV up, so I watched the footy with Somchai & co yabbering away.

Yep, that's what I've settled for. The other link you give for the Sun also has a 20-30second delay, so is useless except when there's an action replay - the video of the replay sometimes is in sync with the first-time commentary.

But I don't think the Sun's commentary will be allowed out of the UK when it's an England match.

Here's an interesting "Matchcast" from Emirates Airline - gives team information, statistics, and a play-by-play report as it happens.

I have this on as well as the Sun:

    http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/.../mc.html?id=10

    http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2006260665,00.html

But I think I'll be having a few curries during the knock-out stage - my local Indian restaurant has a big screen TV with English commentary.

I've just had a new phone line put in today so my internet doesn't cut off every 5 seconds anymore, but I now have no TV.

The internet TVU had better work or I'm mincemeat....
