Thread: Scolari Sacked!

CHELSEA have sensationally sacked Luiz Felipe Scolari.

The Blues slipped to fourth in the Premier League on Saturday after a goalless home draw with Hull.
And the club have moved swiftly to stop the rot by axing the Brazilian and placing Ray Wilkins in temporary charge.

A statement on Chelsea's official website said: "Luiz Felipe Scolari has been dismissed as manager of Chelsea with immediate effect.
"The Chelsea board would like to place on record our gratitude for his time as manager.
"Felipe has brought many positives to the club since he joined and we all feel a sense of sadness that our relationship has ended so soon.
"Unfortunately the results and performances of the team appeared to be deteriorating at a key time in the season.
"In order to maintain a challenge for the trophies we are still competing for we felt the only option was to make the change now.
"The search for a new manager has already started and we hope to have someone in place as soon as possible.
"While that continues assistant coach Ray Wilkins will take charge of the team on a temporary basis."
The timing of Scolari's dismissal is likely to stun most Chelsea fans.
A minority had run out of patience with the World Cup-winning coach but a new manager will be unable to add to the current squad until the transfer window reopens in the summer.
His departure could also leave question marks over the future of midfielder Deco.
Chelsea signed the playmaker from Barcelona for £8million last June.
He was Scolari's only major summer signing but has struggled to make any impact at Stamford Bridge.

Football/soccer whatever deserves it

It's all such a farce. I used to enjoy watching the EPL, but all the changes and intrigues and what-nts just detract from the game.

Chelsea is a perfect example of a non-interest in the sport by the owner . . . ManC possibly as well . . .

Chelsea have announced that Guus Hiddink will take over as temporary coach until the end of the season.
The Premier League club have also revealed that the 62-year-old Dutchman will meet the players later this week.
"The club would like to take this opportunity to thank the Russian Football Union for their understanding and cooperation," said a statement.
Hiddink, who will continue to coach the Russian national side, replaces Luiz Felipe Scolari, who was axed on Monday.

Guess we'd have to chat a bit about the salaries, me thinks!

Many Euro-clubs have salary/income caps . . . and debt-regulations.

Doubt that'll happen.

It'll be Rijkaard for a season until he's sacked after "only" coming runners-up in the Premiership and going out of the Champion's League in the semi-finals. Then, at that time, the World Cup 2010 will be approaching, so Hiddink will be named as manager, following Russia's pending World Cup campaign. He'll be fairly successful with Chelsea, managing for a couple of seasons and perhaps winning a trophy or two. Then Abramovich will get bored and offload Chelsea to a rich Arab oil baron.

Meanwhile, Mourinho will have three or four very successful seasons with Inter and will then sensationally return to Premiership management by taking over from the retired, 71 year old Alex Ferguson. Will be a great success at Man Utd., managing them at the top level for many years and beating Hiddink and Chelsea in most competitions.
