1st ever Hua Hin Red Dress Run.

Price will be a great Value 600 baht. for 3 days activities.

This includes -

Friday evening 6pm on the 23rd January 2009 Red Dress Run past some of Hua Hin's more notorious venues, Night market, Fishing pier. with the occasional Beer Pit stop. hash on on party after the run.

Saturday 24th January Cha Am Hash run. 4 pm(dont forget to take your high heels off and put your running shoes on) (venue to be announced)

Sunday 25th Morning Hash Hangover Run. 10am (venue and time TBA)

Probably a good idea, however you may also bear in mind that your event is really geared towards those who are interested in running, no matter how much fun you have organised on the sidelines. Good luck

Anyone who supports fund raising or charity running knows that Red is the traditional colour to use. Even in Bangkok, not many are seen demonstrating in silky red dresses and high heels. its more of a fancy dress run than anything remotely political.

Now if a load of westerners are running around in the colour red only a few weeks after a major demonstration where this colour was used some Thais could take offence to this and see it as a show of support for the people who follow that colour, they wont have heard of your charity or whoever is connected with it they will just see a load of people wearing red and make 5 from 2+2.

Just choose another colour, ihfcharity, or make it a 'fancy dress run' instead of a red dress one. Would it kill you to bend with the circumstances, just this once?

Tell them that then, maybe an ad in the newspapers or on TV.. Just change your stance and get more people entering your event and raise more money.

At the End of the day its THAI children we were raising money for, so if Thai people make it difficult its there own orphans that will suffer. if it was not for expat's and donations from abroad the orphanage would of closed down long ago.

They are not making it difficult. You are. How hard is it to change the bloomin' dress code? "Hey, guys, it's Little Black Dresses, not red - OK?" Word of mouth, put it on the announcements you've made in media. It's about as easy as cancelling. I really don't understand this insistence on this one colour & your inability to change with the circumstances, I'm afraid.

actually, this is one of my pet hates, when a charity fundraiser pulls out the "think about the CHILDREN line"

its as if I was not going to support the charity previously, but if he reminds me that it is for starving african/thai/whateva children then I will surely buckle and given in.

The whole threads a bit weird. Not understanding the red is an exceedingly sensitive colour in Thailand, plus the attitude tha seems to come across as "we will raise the money how we want, and they should be bloody greatful for it". Bizzare frankly.
