Anyone who supports fund raising or charity running knows that Red is the traditional colour to use. Even in Bangkok, not many are seen demonstrating in silky red dresses and high heels. its more of a fancy dress run than anything remotely political.
The colour is the key thing, red. Red is associated with a particular political alliance, it doesnt matter if its a dress, t shirt or cape some Thais will associate that colour with that political alliance.
Now if a load of westerners are running around in the colour red only a few weeks after a major demonstration where this colour was used some Thais could take offence to this and see it as a show of support for the people who follow that colour, they wont have heard of your charity or whoever is connected with it they will just see a load of people wearing red and make 5 from 2+2.
