FORMER Perak coach Steve Darby (pic) signed as Thailand's assistant coach on Monday.

Darby's boss will be former Sunderland team manager Peter Reid, who was appointed Thailand chief coach in August.

"This is a great opportunity for me to learn from one of English football's best known managers. It also gives me the chance to be part of Asean football's biggest team," said Darby.

Darby, who left Malaysia on Oct 8, is still owed three months salary and signing on fees amounting to RM120,000 by the Perak FA.

PFA is expected to settle by the end of November. Darby's first assignment will be the Asean Cup in December. Thailand and Malaysia are in the same group.
