Carling League Cup 08/09 Love it or hate it, The league cup has started again. Many top teams rubbish this competition and field weakened sides, for lower league clubs it is an excellent way of gaining extra revenue in the hope of drawing one of the bigger Premiership teams and also via games shown live on TV. Good night for TD fans last night with Marmite's Luton Town, NickA's Crewe Alexandra, Cardiff City's result pleasing myself and CMN, Even the Swansea Jacks managed a victory to Keep justwingit happy FIRST ROUND TIES (TUE) Bournemouth 1-2 Cardiff Brighton 4-0 Barnet Bristol City 2-1 Peterborough Bury 0-2 Burnley Chester 2-5 Leeds Crewe 2-0 Barnsley Exeter 1-3 Southampton Gillingham 0-1 Colchester Grimsby 2-0 Tranmere Hartlepool 3-0 Scunthorpe Huddersfield 4-0 Bradford Leicester 1-0 Stockport Millwall 0-1 Northampton MK Dons 1-0 Norwich ![]() Notts County 1-0 Doncaster (aet) Preston 2-0 Chesterfield Rochdale 0-0 Oldham Shrewsbury 0-1 Carlisle Southend 0-1 Cheltenham Swansea 2-0 Brentford Walsall 1-2 Darlington Wolves 3-2 Accrington (aet) Tonights Fixtures Coventry v Aldershot Nottm Forest v Morecambe Sheff Utd v Port Vale Wycombe v Birmingham ![]() MrPot and CB79 will be hoping to avoid an embarrassing home defeat tonight at the hands of the not so mighty Aldershot.

Really enjoyed the Carling Cup last season from a Cov point of view. I was one of the 11,000 who made the journey up to Manchester (top all dayer) where we beat the mighty Man United reserves/youth team 2-0 and then had a great game against West Ham at home only losing to a last minute Carlton Cole goal!! Although, we picked up a couple of injuries on Saturday (Tabb, Gray) we will still be putting out our strongest team and I don't think Coleman will be taking this one lightly. However, a few Championship sides fell by the wayside last night and being a Cov fan I have seen us get beaten by the likes of Sutton, Northampton (when we were in the Prem) and Rochdale amongst others in cup competitions so won't be going into this one with 100% confidence. I will however be one of the about 8000 mugs who will be up there to see it tonight!

^ I am one of those mugs too!!! Whenever there was a game at Ninian Park I couldn't stop myself from going, I have been to watch Cardiff play against shite like Shamrock Rovers, Total Network Solutions and Margate!! There are many teams hovering just above administration and all hoping for a nice cup run this season. The second round draw takes place after tonight's ties and some of the premiership teams enter at the second round, only the teams involved in European Competition come in at the 3rd round

2-0 up inside 12 minutes and then we stalled. apparently Bothroud missed an open goal from 2 yards out. picked a strong team yesterday. i feel jones needs to play Parry somewhere, whether on the wing or up front.

Parry along with Ledley was our outstanding player last season. he is a winger but played alot upfront, he has had a few injuries but imagine he will be one of the first names on the sheet at left wing, also expecting a Welsh call up for the upcoming fixtures

| Lokks very much like loovens is on the way out. From what the guys are saying on the 606 boards, he's looking disinterested and they'd rather take the money now than wait for him to go on a free at the end of the season. Celtic have made a bid, just to piss Rangers off.

Didn't go in the end as no fucker could be arsed and it was lashing it down but did listen to it on the radio and we sounded quite comfortable particularly in the second half. A wins a win though and sets us up for a nice tie with the Geordies at home. Should get a decent crowd up there and although we will be massive underdogs the pressure will all be on the fat bar code wankers! Just a shame that spotty little Welsh twat Bellamy has left them as that would have guaranteed them a warm welcome!! As for the rest of the draw pretty shite really although Burnley/Oldham could be interesting!!
