Peter Osgood passed away after a sudden heart attack whilst attending a funeral yesterday (oh the irony)
Ozzie was the hero of Stamford Bridge for many years having being voted Chelsea's best ever player untill Franco Zola took the title from him a few years ago.
I was lucky enough to meet Ozzie twice- 30 yeears apart. A great after dinner speaker and a great footballer.
He only got 4 caps for England as his era was at the same time as Bobby Charlton, Jimmy Greaves and Geoff Hurst.
Had he been 10 years younger Alan Shearer would have been his predecsor and he would have gained many more caps.
He was in the Chelsea side that lifted the FA Cup in 1970 and the Southampton side that beat Man Utd in the 78 final.
But his true love was Chelsea and up until his death he watched them nearly every week, he saw them beat Portsmouth on saturday at the Bridge where he was hugely poular.
RIP Peter
